What is the best lesson you learned from your worst relationship?

Although I am loyal and supportive, I realized that time is precious. "Jumping-ship" is okay once you realize the other person is not giving their 100%. professor

That a person with a narcissistic personality disorder never will be able to understand, that he never will be able to develop all the good social behaviour that you thought it is there and on which you based your understanding also of that person. As soon as I learned that or my mind understood that, I went away because it is the best and healthiest thing you can do.

If someone puts himself first he won't inconvenience himself with things like a healthy family life. I decided not to bring up a child with someone like that and just packed his bags.

That is so true! Everyone deserves to happy and healthy and if someone is not happy/healthy (emotionally), it would be difficult to make any situation pleasurable.thumbs up

That was a very wise decision not to subject your children to such dysfunction. They are impressionable and learn by what they are exposed to on a regular basis. Good for you!wine

The best lesson I learned? conversing I'd say if something doesn't feel right, it probably is not...don't always give the benefit of the doubt, no matter how much in your nature it is for you to do so. scold If something seems even the tiniest bit off, start questioning and checking into it...and don't be afraid to "jump ship" if you need to, as Frisky said. professor

I was taught the value of not punching well above my weight. A lesson in the curse of ambition.
