secretagent09: With reference to the video of the evacuation of Manhattan, CapNemo, a CS member, is a tugboat captain.
I wonder if he was part of the rescue mission.
That's a good question. Makes me wonder if CapNemo was there then on 9/11.
Memorial Ceremonies are being held in NY, Pa and then Pentagon this morning. President Obama is presently at the Pentagon. So many people gathered to remember in lower Manhatten right now. CNN is at the Pentagon, Fox is in NY. Hard to believe the broadcast networks are not covering the memorials today.

Trump and Hillary are in New York standing in the same line of mourners as the names are read. About a dozen people stand between them.
Where were you when the world stopped turning on that September day? Were you in the yard with your wife and children Or working on some stage in L.A.? Did you stand there in shock at the sight of that black smoke Risin' against that blue sky? Did you shout out in anger, in fear for your neighbor Or did you just sit down and cry?
Did you weep for the children who lost their dear loved ones And pray for the ones who don't know? Did you rejoice for the people who walked from the rubble And sob for the ones left below? Did you burst out with pride for the red, white and blue And the heroes who died just doin' what they do? Did you look up to heaven for some kind of answer And look at yourself and what really matters?
I'm just a singer of simple songs I'm not a real political man I watch CNN but I'm not sure I can tell You the difference in Iraq and Iran But I know Jesus and I talk to God And I remember this from when I was young Faith, hope and love are some good things He gave us And the greatest is love
Where were you when the world stopped turning on that September day? Were you teaching a class full of innocent children Or driving down some cold interstate? Did you feel guilty 'cause you're a survivor In a crowded room did you feel alone? Did you call up your mother and tell her you loved her? Did you dust off that Bible at home?
Did you open your eyes, hope it never happened Close your eyes and not go to sleep? Did you notice the sunset the first time in ages Or speak to some stranger on the street? Did you lay down at night and think of tomorrow Or go out and buy you a gun? Did you turn off that violent old movie you're watchin' And turn on "I Love Lucy" reruns?
Did you go to a church and hold hands with some strangers Did you stand in line and give your own blood? Did you just stay home and cling tight to your family Thank God you had somebody to love?
[Chorus x2]
And the greatest is love. And the greatest is love.
Where were you when the world stopped turning on that September day?
I'm never going to forget it either. I remember exactly where I was, and what I was doing. I was 19, and going to community college. That morning I woke up, and started getting ready for school thinking it was another normal day. My mom came in saying " You're not going to school today".
It still being rather early, I didn't know what was going on. My mom told me that planes had hit the World Trade Center in New York. We spent pretty much all day watching one news channel, or another. The next day I did go to school, but it didn't have the same feel.
A while back, I met a guy from New York. I don't remember his name, but he told he was there actually in the towers on that day. I asked him a couple questions, and probably shouldn't have. I got the feeling he didn't want to talk about it. I can't say I blame the poor guy. That was the worst day ever. Let's hope nothing like this ever happens again.
blooztoon: it was only shown for one edition of papers, it then disapeared
It didn't really disappear. All you need to do is check Google and you'll see several pictures of different men falling ... but in truth they jumped to get away from the fire
It must've been weird to see the skies of New York City occupied by nothing but fighter jets.
Shinegirl: Yeah, we just shut down, scary as hell. My son was 2 years old at the time. All I wanted to do was go pick him up and go home to my place in the woods and watch TV to see what was happening. There are several big cities surrounding where I live and I didn't know if something was going to go down there next. None of us did. If I understood correctly, NO planes flew after that happened that day. Nothing flew in the air, nothing.
Lookin4missright: The falling man, I can't remember seeing that part?
Dozens of videos on youtube and on the internet about many who were involved, with personal stories from family and friends of the victims that saw no other choice, but to leave the towers in any manner that they could.

We've all had time to think about all of the occurrences that surround 9-11. Most of which, do not add-up and doesn't make sense.
More than a few dropped the ball on that day and on the days that lead-up to 9-11.
Yeah, we remember. And if enough are murdered or killed, then we commemorate as a nation every year... I also know that there are areas in the world where so many die regularly, that there isn't enough days in the year for observance, but in America, slaughter doesn't happen very often, but when it does, we remember.
Every year, around this time. My thoughts turn to all of those that were and are glad that destruction and murder came on that day. From those that received personal gains and wealth, to those that name streets after those that kill the innocent... If we don't find you, then the laws of average, and the forces in the universe, will.
2intrigued: Hard to believe 15 years has passed since this happened.
It's incredible what heroism the fireman and other first responders showed on 9/11..... some of them walked up the stairs, carrying a lot of heavy gear and equipment, reached the 79th floor of the South Tower to meet their destiny.

They are the true heroes in America...bless their souls.

A New York story... All we have is each other.... Saved by Jewish man on 9/11, Pakistani Muslim reaches out...
A Pakistani by birth and Muslim by faith, Farman was just a recent college graduate going to work when his PATH train pulled into the World Trade Center stop shortly before 9 a.m. September 11. The ensuing events landed him on the ground as the South Tower fell blocks away in a sudden, violent fury.
His story might have ended there. But a Hasidic Jewish man broke from the fleeing mob, approached him, read the Muslim prayer engraved in Arabic on a pendant around Farman's neck, then extended his hand.
"Brother, if you don't mind, there is a cloud of glass coming at us, grab my hand, let's get the hell out of here," the man said in a thick New York accent, according to Farman.
In the days after the terrorist attacks, Farman took it upon himself to reach out. He fired off an emotional e-mail missive to friends and Dr. Joseph Morone, president of his alma mater, Bentley College.
"As I found out, regardless of who we are, and where we come from, we only have each other," wrote Farman.
Farman, who has been unable to find his rescuer, says he hopes his experience will impel others to think of people first as humans before labeling them by race, ethnicity or creed, instead of acting out in anger based on stereotypes.
Michael Miller, head of an umbrella organization of Jewish groups in New York, concurs. Farman's tale, he says, is not just about a Jew saving a Muslim; it's about one man saving another in one of the most diverse, toughest cities in the world.
"That's a New York story: New Yorkers helping other New Yorkers in tragedy and distress," says Miller, executive vice president for the Jewish Community Relations Council of New York.
