I was in the shower and my teenage daughter who is now 30, came running in to tell me about it, I grabbed a towel and wrapped it around me and ran into my bedroom water dripping all over as I sat on my bed and watched the horror unfold on the TV. I had to get five children ready for school and daycare and myself ready for work so I grabbed a portable TV and took it to work. It stayed on in my office as I got ready for a Board of Supervisors meeting to which I sat there crying through the whole meeting. It was a day no decent American will forget.

Funnily enough I was in religious education class. It was a terrible day like when Diana died there was absolutely nothing good on the TV.

Watchable for the first 30 minutes until I thought I've had enough of this freeloading on somebody else's Trauma. What am I some kind of grief thief?

I only hope that America doesn't become like the city of self-pity with its Hillsborough 96 we never hear the end of.

Lived in the Bahamas at the time!
Slept late, but my TV was on!
When I woke up,I thought I had entered the Twilight-Zone!
When I was fully awake, for a moment I thought some Idiot had repeated Orson Welles' Stunt, but it didn't take long to realize that this time it was real!

Listen Rumps, as part of the CS community I was there for you when you had a horrible loss and in much the same manner as 3,000 people who were murdered in the U.S. on Sept. 11th.

Those who died in the towers were not all from America. It was the International Trade Center. People from all over the world worked in those buildings, perhaps some of them were on the planes were from the UK.

We are not forcing our self-pity on you. This is our way to grieve, just two threads.

However, I do wish that the reading of the names would stop. It was a good idea for the first five years. If I lost someone on that day I wouldn't be in NY reading their name. I would be on a beach looking out at the water and remembering how much I loved them.

Please try to understand, be patient and not insult our grief.

I was at work in a local animal clinic assisting clients. Each time I took a chart back to the Dr.'s then came back up front something else had happened. Finally I just told them I wasn't leaving the front desk anymore. I sat there and watched in dismay. I just wanted to leave and go get my son and go home to my place in the woods, where I thought it might safe. Didn't feel safe for quite a while after that.

There was a shirt I saw online the other day. I just thought about it after your comment. It said, "If what I say offends you, just think of what I keep to myself."laugh

I was at work when it was announced on Invicta Radio - we thought it was a hoax at first as they were always joking about Terrorists attacking the US and us.

I was in my basement apartment in Denver, Colorado. I woke up late so I saw it all when I turned the TV on. I have been up the old World Trade Center Observatory twice. You take an elevator to the 107th floor which is the top indoor floor then take 2 escalators 3 floors up to the 110th observation pier. There was a helicopter pad in the middle. I went to the 9/11 Museum and to the top of the new One World Trade Center (Freedom Tower) last year. It only goes as high as the 102 floor where you see a short film on NYC then the wall goes up and you see out the window and then you take 2 escalators down to the main observatory on the 100th floor. There is no outdoor deck.

I had a job interview on the 110th floor about 20 years ago but haven't been to the new tower and doubt I will ever go.

Many times I took the PATH train to New York. On the very lower level of the old towers it was like a normal shopping mall with every kind of restaurant and store you could want. Once you got through the mall you took the escalator up to the first floor which brought you out to Church Street.

The last time I was in the towers was June 10, 1991 when I went to NY for the parade of our military who came home from Dessert Storm. I think back to how nonchalant I was that day going in the towers without a thought that one day the towers wouldn't no longer be standing.

I've been to the Reflecting Pools. Kaybee posted a picture of her friend's name who is embedded in the granite of the walls of the pools. When you look around at the two pools and think of how one day, 15 years ago, two very tall buildings stood in those two spots.

One other thing. There is a small church where the towers stood. I went to visit Ground Zero about three months after the attack. The cemetery of the church was covered with gray dust that came from the towers. As I passed that cemetery I thought of how the people who were in those buildings were incinerated and crumbled to ash and some of that ash was in that cemetery yard. Unbelievably sad.

I was at work and will never forget that day. We moved to new premises and the opening was scheduled on the same day the tragedy happened. We were expecting distinguished guests, frantically racing against time to get everything ready for their arrival.

When the news broke, everyone gathered around the television watching in stunned silence as the horror of the unthinkable unfolded on the screen, casting a shadow over the buzz of activity and enthusiasm.

The excitement of being the first occupants in a brand new upmarket office park, located at a prime spot faded into insignificance...
