Another explosive device same as what happened in Seaside Park, New Jersey this morning.

(CNN) — A explosion in the Chelsea neighborhood of New York on Saturday night injured at least 25 people, the fire department said.

Gas has been ruled out as the cause of the explosion, a law enforcement source said. Officials are still trying to assess what caused explosion the source said. No secondary device was located.

The preliminary belief of investigators is that the explosion was caused by an explosive device in or near a dumpster, a law enforcement source told CNN. The source stressed this is preliminary and is not conclusive.

I was home at the time of the New Jersey explosion. Seaside Park is an hour and a half away from me so I didn't know anything about it until I saw the NJ news. Whoever planted that device got away and I'm thinking they went to New York since the explosive device in NY is much the same as the one in NJ wave

The device was put in a dumpster that was full of large objects. When the device went off everything in the dumpster blew up hitting people and cars on the street.

This happened in the Chelsea area of New York which is favored for people dining out on a Saturday night.

That's terrible and no doubt people are feeling pretty scared. Although there were injuries, thankfully nobody was killed. I hope they catch the person responsible for this. sigh

wave They have corrected the injured to be 29 and one of them is a pregnant woman in serious condition.

The second device in NY appears to be a pressure cooker in a backpack. If you remember that's what the explosive devices were like in Boston.

Hopefully the street cameras will catch this person(s). The FBI did a fabulous job of catching the two who killed several in Boston. Hopefully they can do it again in NY and NJ.

UPDATE Monday, September 19, 2016

An Elizabeth man is being sought by authorities for questioning in connection with Saturday's explosion in New York.

Ahmad Khan Rahami, 28, was born in Afghanistan but is a United States citizen, the Federal Bureau of Investigation said Monday.

Rahami is about 5-foot-6, 200 pounds, the FBI said.

Meanwhile, the FBI is searching an apartment and fried chicken eatery below it at 104 Elmora Avenue in Elizabeth, according to Mayor Christian Bollwage.

"They are going to be here for hours as they search every inch (of the places)," Bollwage said.

Juan Ramos, 20, who lives nearby said he was friends with the family that owned the restaurant and apartment being searched. Ramos said the family was private but "nothing out of the ordinary."

"I've seen him around all the time," Ramos said of Rahami. He said he was friends with son of the owner but didn't really know Rahami, and was unsure how or it he was related to the family.

"I haven't seen him recently."

The Saturday evening blast on West 23rd Street in Chelsea injured 29 people. On Sunday night, the FBI also detained five people for questioning.

Rahami has not been linked to Saturday's explosion in Seaside Park or the blast early Monday in Elizabeth.

Anyone with information about his whereabouts is asked to call the FBI at 1-800-CALL-FBI (1-800-225-5324).
