Sep 20, 2016 3:47 AM CST TV Licence (new “broadcasting charge”)
The guy is knocking on the door, you know, the guy we all hate.
The TV Licence inspector !

What do you guys think of this other f*cking stealth tax.

Arguments for not paying.

. I should if paying for a service not be subjected to advertising on it.
one ore the other please, advert free quality tv or private revenue generated brain washing crap.

. this is something that should be included in the household tax
{Local Property Tax (LPT)} What is included in this ?

. The news is very bias toward the government yet it is the people who pay for it why prop up a propaganda machine.

Arguments for paying.

. Late Late toy show (maybe)

I'd be happy with a Pay Per View system.

I rarely turn on the TV at all, so if I did want to watch something, I'd be happy to pay for just that programme or film.

I agree 100% Molly, I think its totally unjustified as RTE get revenue from advertising, this in my mind makes them a private company and not fit for state sponsorship..
Its the same with rte player. in order to watch you have to remove
ad blocker !!!!! what the f*ck are we paying for.

That makes no sense at all. Here, you buy a TV and then do what you want with it. There are 5 Government-run channels (ABC1,2,3 and SBS, SBS2) the SBS channels are mostly in foreign language. Then there are another 15 or so channels, some are rubbish like home shopping and horse racing etc.

Sounds like youse are getting shafted.

It annoys me when Tubridy et al justify their generous salaries by stating that it's the going rate for people in their field of work.

These peeps should remember that this is a small country, and a lot of license payers are suffering economic hardship. Greedy bastids.

Ya know man, for a moment there I forgot about the f*cking ludicrous amount those twats get paid. Yeah thats what we are really paying for.
To be quite honest I think some homeless person would host a better show than those idiots.

As for economic hardship. Tell me about it even four quid a week for that stamp milarky seems beyond my budget at the moment.
Car insurance up tax due, and f*cking extortionate m50 fines out my a**.

I'm not into pay-per-view, I'm into how it is here. 20 or so free to air channels, and pay TV operators doing their thing. I cant see how they can charge you for streaming, thats how I'd be doing it.

160 Euro per year? Thats a bit over $200. My telly was a bit over $300. It shows how accustomed they get to income only justifiable in a bygone era. But you can marry a guy, so I guess thats the tradeoff.

That's a great idea. Why should we pay for what we don't want? And if the service/channel isn't up to much, e.g., RTE, then they will go out of business because nobody will fund their propaganda ''programming''.

It's hard to understand that in this day and age people are still watching the inane RTE morons talking shit and worse still buying newspapers!!!!
