The USA is in the process of electing a President. Where ever you look you can find the evidence of the battle. The blogs, forums and polls are riddled with it, not only here at CS but also the rest of the Internet, radio, TV and the newspapers.
One way or the other I don't really care about all the smear campaigns and the politics around it. I'm only interested in the final result. What is your interest in it?

As a proper grown up of course I'm interested in the result. Who gets in power in America matters more than who does so in my own country.
As for the details I'm interested in those in the same way that a psychiatrist wants to know the ins and outs of his patient. American politics is the science beaker and the American public are the worm inside.

If I drank, I'd be crawling out of my science beaker and straight into a bottle of tequila for the next 4 years.

Catfoot: The decline in human values and morals over the last 50 years is scaring. the values that I was taught as a child no longer exist.
They behaved like they had a soul which isn't always, or even very often, a benefit materially speaking.
Rationalise away traditional values and bonds and society will soon arrive at greed is good libertarianism and/or community-dissolving political correctness: The two different types of people normally found in generation me.

My only interest is whether any states declare secession after the election. The US as a whole has more reasons to finally break-up than not. It needs to break-up for more reasons than they have for staying together under a coercive government that only seeks to impose restrictions on all their freedoms and rights by the ultimate use of force, totally against all the founding principles of a nation. The national govt. has become the proverbial 'enemy of the people'.It's long overdue that the people reclaim their inherent rights. As far as the world is concerned, it would be a welcome change not to have the US as the sole force of world domination. Time to force a change for better leadership.
Rumples: This coming election really is a choice between the soulless and the stupid. Or, to put it another way, a battle between the high-road and the low-road of human reasoning.
Yet homosapien society, particularly since the enlightenment, has depended on a compromise between the soul and the intellect(the high and low roads)and from this came an equal instinct to look to both the future and the past to understand the present state of affairs. This dies in the modern autistic split. And now there's Trump's soulful and stupid low-road which wants to abandon the future and Hillary's soulless and calculating high-road which seeks to jettison the past.
Many have voiced their desire for this, especially from the hordes of growing numbers of "deplorables" as Clinton labeled them. My money would be on the election of Clinton and the attempts to then impeach her after the election, which will only grow. If those attempts become as divisive as expected, some state or states may then force the the anti Clintons to call for secession without any debates in any state legislature by simply declaring it.

In fairness she said that half of Trump supporters are "deplorables" and she did not specified anything about CS Trump's supporters.

Who ever is the president of USA or my country or any country does not affect me, not significantly and my concern is: how those results affect other people, people who are not in the elites.

In fairness to the hordes of those 'deplorable',aka those un-adorables...she could build them a wall once she can have them isolated into one specific are of the states and wall them in from the rest of the population that is not 'deplorable'. Perhaps she could also have loudspeakers going 24-7 playing nothing but country western 'music' as Parade magazine did a survey some years ago and found that cities with 2 or more radio stations that played country/western music had both the highest rates of murder and suicide in the US....

Apparently, “Searches for ‘how can I move to Canada’ on Google have spiked +350% in the past four hours,” Simon Rogers, data editor for Google, wrote on Twitter after Super Tuesday.

i agree with you that we should have progressive left wing safespacer snowflake radio stations play outlaw country music so the despicable home grown commie libtards immediately kill each other.

It is a good question. I can say on a personal level it has had some direct effect on at least one friendship. The friend became very pointed when I did not jump on his bandwagon stating that I did not care about the future of his children. I thought that was a bit extreme, especially because I simply stated that I was not happy with either of the choices which at that time also included Bernie. And now since that day he does not talk to me...Pretty lame I think...I explained that I had never judged him or even asked what he was voting on or whatever. Other than that and just realizing that it seemed to be better to not bring up at work or anywhere really. And then here.. I know that in the forums there was always some threads around this time, but this year it just seems more "in your face" with the way the whole process has went. But it is a bit over the top and I get kinda tired of watching or hearing the same things over and over. So basically can't wait till it's over, or at least something else is more interesting for people to argue about.

Makes ya wonder how strong friendships really are in situations like this. Yep, even in the forums there's a sense of division over the silly elections. My gut is telling me that this kinda thing will continue well after the elections but I've got lots of kleenex tissues handy.

I wouldn't talk to you either if you said that about my children. Horrible thing to say about any child and you said it to someone you work with every day.

Me thinks you may have misunderstood what he said. He never said that about the children, but his 'friend' made the accusation based on their discussion. At least that's how I took it anyway.

I didn't say anything at all about his kids! that is the whole point. It would be like me accusing you of not caring about my children (if I had some) just because you did not feel like you wanted to talk "politics". I hope that clarifies well enough for you. My whole point is/was that people are jumping to conclusions because they are so wound up.

yes!!! lol,,and I appreciate your catching that,,,,I almost didn't think about coming right back to the thread as I am trying to find something to eat instead of going out in the stormy weather. But it is a good example of how people flash judge you. I would never speak so poorly even to a stranger about their family. I know all to well how it feels to be hurt and the loss.

Yes,,, this whole fiasco is even more so than the last time around it seems. I think the sad thing (or one of them) is that it is like going to the only place to eat in a 1000 sq mile radius and all they serve is "Dog" or "Cat" food. And you were so hoping that you could just have some "Bird seed" with some honey drops!!! LOL.
(I will send you a case of Kleenex) if it gets worse .. But let's hope that at least some form of common sense will prevail.

I hear ya B, it's a no win situation and it's turned into a huge fiasco that will go down in history. Let's hope everything works out for the best for everyone. Hang onto the kleenex though in case folks need them down there.
