It's what Psyciatry is built on, correcting a chemical imbalance. Yet there is no base line to test off as we are all different.It's really trial and error when it comes to medication and the Pharaceutical companies flouting of the rules and their advertising a 'happy' life does not help matters.
As you say its complicated but at least health services are taking a more holistic approach to the treatment and its moving in the right direction.

In cases where a pill has made a difference (and there really are such cases) then it is a chemical imbalance. I have seen this with my own eyes. .and its not that the person becomes addicted or gets a high, they simply become normalised again and capable of dealing with normal day to day life where before they were not capable of normality. Its not the cure for everyone but for some it is and is worth a try. For those for whom this is not the answer its more complicated and unfortunately these are the ones whose suffering is prolonged trying all the different methods

Yes we do. I never said you don't have a right to your opinions. Streep also has a right to express hers. I totally agree with her that Trump is the wrong choice for president of the US and its disgusting how he mocked a journalist because of his disability. I will never have the audience of Streep but will always express my opinion nevertheless and if I had her audience I would do the same. Its important that people continue to express opinions and journalists continue to report on everything Trump says and does as with any president

Its not gossip! He mocked a disabled journalist it was seen publicly. He is a well known american journalist and trump mimicked his speech and arm movement mocking him.

Its a chemical imbalance in the brain. We don't know everything, and everyone is different. Sometimes pills work, sometimes they don't. Sometimes one pill works and another type of pill doesn't. Sometimes it trial and error till the right pill is found. But sometimes pills don't work. Sometimes counselling works on one person but doesn't work on another person.
Its complicated and we are still learning.
I have known people who suffered from it. I know someone who went through a period of anxiety and depression about ten years ago and Prozac worked wonders. That person made a full recovery pretty quickly and now there are no signs of it at all. I know another person for whom no pill seemed to work, and went through misery for years trying everything.
