As for his investments with Clinton, this was not in this discussion, he is a businessman, so one can assume he invested with the Clintons to make money, as he will with his new buddy Trump.
He is not all bad, he at least tries to help other become successful, unlike trump, who just lies to students of his "university" or refuses to pay for work carried out!
Slim founded three nonprofit foundations concentrating on Mexico City: one for the arts, education, and health care; one for sports; and one for downtown restoration.
I would think most Mexicans would be proud of Mr Slim.

Slim has made such a huge fortune with the help of ex-President Carlos Salinas, yes the one that signed the NAFTA and there were some "rare" financial movements there under the privatization of the Mexican communications which favored a consortium in which Slim was an important part of it. Phone charges from Slim Company Telmex is one of the most expensive in the world.
Info aside: Carlos Salinas decisions as president brought Mexico into its knees with the NAFTA, we got a financial crush with a hiperinflation and with interest rates up to 120 % for a short tim, the "tequila effect" at the beginning of the following President period of Zedillo.
Another aside info: Being one of the top wealthiest person of the world what else would someone want?
some time ago, Slim was courting a widow Queen of Jordan but they did not get to marry.
Has Slim done some good things in favor of society, of course he has but if his good doing is placed against his greedy practices, the good things are non-significant, so no, I do not feel proud of Slim.
