A secret crush is, well, a secretlaugh

But while I may have a special feeling towards one certain person, distance prohibits any real chance of building a true friendship, so those feelings get hidden.

I would imagine many people here would, if honest, like to meet others, but circumstances block that chance.

Not always Rizla, I did it for 2 years. Exciting but costly.

Emotionally draining at times but very adventurous and the passion, remarkable.

This is so true Riz thumbs up Some folks have managed it but I agree that circumstances tend to get in the way for a lot of us here. wave

So true wine

And I suspect in many cases, the excitement and anticipation of meeting far outweighs the actual.

So it's probably best to just enjoy the ride.

Exactly, if the meeting is to happen it should happen in days, not weeks or months, our minds have a way to turn things into what we want rather than what is real. The disappointment of failed expectation is staggeringly hard to cope with, I speak from experience moping

Of course it can be different, but is the risk worth the pain?

I have seen some successful couples here but not enough of them to be sure to start a distant relationship...unless you do have the monies to meet up frequently...as you said meet up early better than wasting your time...but I definitely would expect phone calls as well to determine suitability...or Skype...

All relationships are painful but being duped by someone on line is the worst...person on the blogs had this happen...just an awful experience to go through...

I always say romance goes well with a clock-watching vibe. The last thing you need is things happening in their own time.

And of course it's worth the pain because the pain of heartbreak doesn't go away by not daring to love. All that pain is distributed double across your entire life as jadedness.
