rizlared: Always found it interesting, the different meal choices to celebrate Christmas in different countries.
I think the three best would be (for me).
Number 1 Germany, just so much food and wine, seems to last forever
Number 2 England, maybe biased here lol, but the traditional English Christmas lunch is hard to beat.
Number 3 Russia, had one of the best all time dinners in Russia one Christmas, Started with Stuffed Peppers and just got better and better, all washed down with Georgian wine(the best wine in the world), and local vodka. Real Russian food is really delicious.

Hiya Riz My ex mother in law was from Russia and there was always way more food than was needed....quite the banquet of stuffed peppers, cabbage rolls, a couple of different roasts, you name it and it was there. I'll always remember her wonderful meals and her always telling the family "eat, got lots".

Nothing like home cooked food, my ex GF's mother, a Ukrainian, told me a lot about the times pre the fall of the USSR, such as, how people queued for days just to get one small piece of meat, meat was only available around Christmas times, but they were not allowed to celebrate, her family did so but in secret, so adventurous cooking with vegetables had to be learnt, and still used today lol Like borscht soup. which I adore., She was a lovely woman, very round lol, reminded me of the Russian matryoshka doll set lol

Russian matryoshka doll Kinda like my ex mother in law as well.
The ex father in law was Ukrainian and I recall him telling us about how people lined up to get meat so no surprise that folks had to be creative with cooking vegetables. Yep, plenty of borscht soup and holubts (cabbage rolls)....nom, noms...
