robplum: how did diesel in petrol tank pan out sophia?

I ended up in a dilemma, yet this guy where I took my car too said ring a guy at Toyota, as that was my last day to use the car my friend had loaned me.

This guy that owned the fanchise said "I'll just chuck a rope around it and bring it back here and I will have it gong tomorrow., dont stress.
Dam right he did!
Home with my little car yesterday and totally cleaned and pampered it.
Its like, being on your own with your car your only plan, that when it fails, you hit the wall when you have no one to help.
Yet Making friends up here was such a god send.

Mobile is looking at the cctv view to see if it was them.
Will find out tomorrow.
Yet either way, my baby is back.

Thanks Rob

Do you know if he changed the fuel filter, possibly the engine oil and oil filter???,
I'm not sure, but diesel could bound up in time cause problems with carburetor seals, however if he is dealer he'd know better than me.

I'd be a bit concerned what damage that might have, odd things like diesel fuel has detergent in it, because the motor was run for a while, the diesel could have cleaned the compression rings and the cylinder bore, some might think that would be good but you might find the car now uses lots of oil and that'd be a bumber, i think you need what those things as that could cost lot'a money, new rings and bearings, seal kit for carb etc etc

don't take to likely

I wouldn't worry too much , when the petrol additives were changed a few years back there was major problems with seals . Few fires and some homebuilt plane's motors stopped running . I once ran short of petrol in a S1 Landrover , did a fifty/fifty mix with diesel to get to town . Smoked a bit , almost like the white vapour trail of an airliner but thicker . Never gave any problems later . It would be a different story if petrol was used in a diesel .
