Call me old fashioned , but my reasons for marriage was to create a stable environment for the children , when they arrived. & the fact I don't plan on having more, I don't see a reason to get married.
So I'm in the NO corner.wave

I wondered whether those of us in a mature age group would consider marriage and whether their views were based on past experiences conversing

To be frank Serene, I am not the person that could give a straightforward answer as I have never been married...
I know many who are not afraid to go through it again and again hoping for a different experience...
But I have noticed that those who have never been married are more keen on skipping the procedure...

My friend, who had been married, was totally against marriage as a result.
Even when friends and work colleagues got engaged, she couldn't even congratulate them as she thought they were crazy to even contemplate it.

She was in a relationship for about 10 years and marriage was never mentioned (she had never got divorced, maybe as a safeguard?)
That relationship broke up.

She then met another man, and within 2 years she had got divorced and re-married. White dress, the works!
So one never knows
