OP, this thread piqued my curiosity about the deep web also. After a quick Google search, I saw an entry for a thread about deep web experiences on Reddit. I was all set to be entertained with tales of hitmen, the illicit drug trade, and whatever forbidden desires I've heard lurked there. So exciting! Until I read one of the first entries of a user's experience on the Silk Road.....
""Silk Road. Circa 2013. Purchased what was promised as a "mind-blowing" experience. Received a Dust Buster two days later.""
No...i had considered it years ago but i have been using firefox (recommended for tor).
i dont use Tor because encryption on that level raises suspicions. Firefox locked down through the about:config settings and married to ixquick/startpage/duckduckgo and using a VPN is the cleanest way to go, Use the 2016 firefox hardening recipes as well as router hardening to protect your customer data base/files...
Every time I try to secure my computer it gets taken out. Ive finally decided screw it! Let them watch, at least they don't destroy my computer trying to find what I am hiding.
Tor browser has been the beginning of the end both times I started using it.
