I've always aimed deal with it during the interview process and screen them out by using an extended interview process that includes exposing them briefly to others in the work force under a couple of 'engineered' realistic situations where the manager / interviewer is absent and a trusted employee will feedback to the appointments team.
Had all sorts of things come out as a result ... previous dishonesty offence that was not on the app form, one who couldn't work nights as they had a curfew on their bail conditions ( also undisclosed on app form) a banned drink driver who told the court he couldn't find his licence so he could keep it and lie about the conviction by showing licence at interviews and several who asked how did the fiddles work for short changing and credit card thefts etc
ya just have to do what you can cos getting rid of a rotten apple can be hard work !

Don't be a beautician or estate agent for starts. If they're hiding something in my game then it's normally reckless or slow, not too many toxic weasels.
Toxic people are really just Bullies. The most effective way to stop a Bully is to scare the Bully. I had one at work who almost got a punch in the face. Make sure you have a witness when you get ready to drive him or her. Then never be too friendly with that person. It worked well for me.

Good Thread,
They seem to be everywhere, in little cliques.
They can be very harmful, telling lies and spreading them.
I would agree with above comment, and also, to just ignore them,
They soon get the message, because they are just bullies!!

I will give you a more civilized approach to the bully. Simply secretly write down each and every encounter and be descriptive. Make sure you put the time and date and do this till you have enough evidence to nail the idiot. Be Patient and good luck.

You need a dependable witness,or if necessary grab the closest coworker reminding them of company policy-date,sign,incident report, file with HR Dept. Let them do their job. Go home after work and relax.Never take bullying as an idle threat,or into your own hands.
