A tarrif on Mexican goods, that costs Americans 20% more...

That's a 20% tax on American consumers.

We pay 20% more for our produce.

We pay 20% more for our cars.

That 20% was never going to Mexico anyway!

It's just 20% less that we have to feed and clothe our children.

Mexico isn't paying for the wall... we are!

An actual wall would help with less man power to patrol and police. Man power than can be used to help with other tasks of government and security. Take away much of the porousness and it will help cut down illegal crossings and illegal dealings, both ways. A lot of resources go into such large amounts of government aid, policing, and deportation. It adds up.

It's about a decade plus over due as it is. If it were acted on and done in 2006 or even steadily worked on through the years, it would have been completed. There isn't any way to tell for certain how much might have been saved or even allowances for government restructuring from potential cost cuts.

could do , however a few Americans may get a job producing food , cars and a whole lot more and If they are paid well to produce them , they may be able to pay their own way rather than being supported by tax payers .

rizlared: The average cost to deport someone from the USA is quoted at $12,500, the estimated cost of Trump's wall is $24 Billion.

Can you say for certain all 2.5 Million that Obama deported came into the USA from Mexico?

Can you say for certain that building a wall along the Mexican border, will stop every illegal entering the USA?

A wall will not prevent illegal immigrants, they will find plenty of other ways to enter.

I wouldn't be surprised if the cost is about 40 to 50 billion and still to me, a more effective measure.

I have a cousin who is a foreman in one of the biggest vineyard in Porterville Ca and he claims that the same people that got deported came back about 20 more times in a span of 5 years.

Just watch the link that Epirb posted and you will hear it from the general news.

Thank you You.

Infact check this out, if you enter illegally in Korea and or Russia you will be shot without mercy.

Imagine that? Where as in our country, not only would they be given free food, but free housing and free health insurance. No wonder they don't hesitate to illegally enter our country.

I don't think there is any incentive for Mexico or any other country to build our wall. It is our duty as Americans to foot the bill, after all we are the ones that will benefit most or why bother.

But not work one minute past commitment to stop the flow . Currently US is importing 100 billion worth of drugs , what that represents in tons of product over the Mexico border would be a guess . It can't flow unless there is currently US border control looking the other way , probably bribed . I think building a wall is daft as its commitment to man it that at the end of the day that matters and that could be there tomorrow . Rotating the armed forces along the border for a couple of months at a time and not allowing contact with the locals while there , giving less opportunity for corruption to creep in . Having a bloody great wall to hide behind gives the narcos a head start . Nothing like open ground to see who's coming . One machine gun per kilometre and a willingness to use them would soon send a message .

Yep, you knew Trump was lying all along.

Now you're making excuses for his lies.

Yes, I've read about that. I think it's based on an agreement each of those two countries had made back in 2014, or somewhere around that time. And from my understanding, either of those two countries could implement the death penalty upon recurring illegals who had been extradited yet having returned.

So as it seems, some countries are playing hard ball on illegals without media or global consternation, but should the United States (under Trump's administration) merely send the illegals back, there's a media and global uproar and all hades breaks loose.

And dare I mention that the Obama administration, also holding the record for the most illegals deported, had no media intercession and no global protestation at all.

I understand that the new Government wants and will build a wall.
They discovered a massive catapult to chuck drugs over to USA.

They will always find ways, but such a huge long wall will take a constant upkeep.

Under/ over/bribery.

Think it will really stop?
As all walls have another route.

lindsyjones: Well good for you, my grand parents were immigrants to the US when we we're tributary to the US.

Besides the point, you live in a country if your nationality your participation of every political cause is as much as your responsibility as born citizens.

So your comment was irrelevant.

Nevertheless, let's not pull the wool over our eyes. If you think building a wall is the solution to the economic & social problems that entail your adopted country, then your in for a nary shock.

Trump says his wall will cover 1,000 miles and natural obstacles will take care of the rest. At least 1,300 miles long, 40 feet high, and containing 19 million tons of concrete, Donald Trump said it would cost between $8 billion and $12 billion.

Donald Trump's “wall” along the U.S.-Mexico border would be a series of fences and walls that would cost as much as $21.6 billion. Bernstein Group has estimated it could cost between $15-25 billion to build Donald Trump's proposed wall between the U.S. and Mexico.

How much would cost tolerating illegals?

The wall will also keep you in, LJ.

You'd better hope Trump hasn't got plans to strip you of your citizenship and other human rights like your life.

You won't want a major escape route cut off with all that security.

There is a difference between following international protocols for the treatment of migrants(including undocumented people) and the clown's way of doing his way.

Either of those two countries implementing the death penalty?

Do not forget to impose the death penalty to the ones that hire undocumented migrants as well uh oh

Perhaps Europeans have a biased view regarding segmenting countries with huge walls, we have experienced the horror of the Berlin Wall, and seen the farce that the wall in Cyprus has been, even the Romans gave up after building a wall to keep the Scots out of England as it was an abject failure.

Maybe Trump should read some history and then look for a better idea, rather than wasting such a huge sum of money that the American working public will have to pay for!
