Here UBER have found legal problems with the taxi drivers. There are UBER drivers who do the same job having not a license.

I have never used it. They have had a few problems, but overall it seems to be working. I don't hardly see any of the yellow cabs anymore, but I don't hang out at the airport either. How?

Here Uber drivers have to have a valid license, go through medical exams and also there is non-criminal record required, their vehicles are checked and their route can be tracked (although this last one
)Uber is doing a good job here, that some people are not using their cars anymore, because the traffic can be a jam and then there is not parking space, and in some places the risk of your vehicle being robbed is high.
At the airport near by, UBER is having problems with the Federal police and they are getting fined yet the UBER company pays those fines, so here it is not wise to call a UBER to pick you up but still you can take UBER from your place to the airport.
Some parents of little children are getting organized and sending 4 or so children to school by UBER yet I would not feel confident sending my child with an stranger, I would not do it.

Most people I know here use Uber.
When my man was here mid last month, the days when I was not driving, we used the services of Uber and I can only rave about them. Uber was having a special weekly promotion and most of the rides had me paying MYR1.00 only!

Quite a few foreign middle eastern drivers here driving taxis have caused problems , and of course one an uber driver was involved in the same activity it becomes a major problem and very news worthy . Its an end game for traditional taxi company's and they are squealing and as they "support democracy" by making donations to political party's they have our dears leaders ear's .In some places cabs must be safer than UBER in other places they are not.

In this land, Cabs can be dangerous as well, so my recommendation is never get a Cab on any street, the ones safer are the ones that have an station, so you get there or call them or at the airport or a bus station, Radio Taxi is also safer.
The problem with the above is that many times the vehicles are not in good shape, some might no have seat belts , etc..and sometimes the driver is not in good conditions. Also, most commonly the drivers are workers (and the owners might have more than one permit for a cab) and they the workers could get a credit to buy a car and start his own business in UBER.
I have used UBER here a few times and their vehicles are in perfect condition, brand new and the drivers do drive well, courteous, etc.. Before you get into the UBER you get: the drivers ID with a photo and the vehicle plates (then you can send it to someone in the family to track your route) they charge less than a regular taxi and they are between minutes from where they are required.
UBER is hitting the public transportation and that must make them (both) to improve their service.
