Should people follow their own instincts,OR
Should they yield to social conventions/code of behaviour

Isn't it all about basic good manners, not an uptight way to live

Shouldn't we think of other peoples feelings, after all
it's not all about us.
Personally i like to treat others as i would like to be treated myself.

This covers a vast area of social behaviour.peace

I just can't believe that it is accepted to be late for a date,, expected even, just
because it is a first date,, without any reason.

Also i don't understand people who are using their phones while in company.

All that sort of thing is just bad manners!!

Does anyone agree?conversing

I believe you are talking about good manners vs bad manners, real etiquette vs, BS etiquette (common in UK/US), and common sense.

I am like things straightforward, most of time doesn't fit the bs etiquette. and I love it.

There's a lot to be said for having some old fashioned moral values and respect for others but not to the extent that we should follow a set of dating etiquette rules from back in the 50's. laugh
