truheart1941: ..really.....that's nice.....top of the morning to yer......

For the 1,000,000,000th time......Top of the morning is not an Irish phrase. Any Irish person in Ireland will tell you that that they have never ever heard any irish person actually say that phrase.

Its origins are thought to be american hollywood films.

One popular theory blames the famous Lucky Charms Leprechaun from American television ads. It doesn’t seem that anyone Irish was involved in the original ad campaign (the man who voiced the Leprechaun wasn’t even of Irish descent). When the campaign first ran, in the early 1960’s, it’s likely that Americans already associated “top o’ the morning” with Irishness.

A four leaf clover has nothing to do with Ireland or St. Patricks Day.

The symbol of St. Patricks Day is the shamrock. The shamrock has THREE leaves, not four. irish

The people getting drunk in Temple Bar are tourists who come for their idea of the Irish experience which is a stereotypical drunken Irish weekend. Any sane Irish person stays away from Temple Bar especially on Paddys day. There is more to this place than alcohol you know, what you see in the coverage of Temple Bar is not a true Irish experience, just a bunch of drunk foreign visitors irish

I was just trying to be nice, it didn't look like anything I would enjoy, I don't enjoy large groups of people at all, and don't get along with drunks either. There's a bar in my town called the Dublin house, it was on the news last night, fights and a gunshot. Myself and the locals know to avoid the place on Paddys day, maybe its that way everywhere. The four leaf clover is for good luck I thought. handshake
