One2note: Of going on a dating site, with not photo?
I can think of 2 reasons... 1, you have a face, only suitable for radio, or 2, you have something to hide, or are married & don't want to be recognised.

I generally have a low attention span & loose interest if a quote becomes a storyline, when a few words would suffice but feel fee to add more.

In the almost eight years that I've been on this site ever read within the rules that someone was required to post a photo but if one did then it would have to a picture of them.
I feel that even people who have photos up most likely have something to hide and are married.

Professional people who don't want their clients or business partners knowing their private business.
Somebody who works in the public arena and doesn't want to be instantly recognised.
Somebody living in a small village or town who doesn't want all their neighbours to know they're on a dating site.
That's just 3 potential reasons
