I think the most important place to start here is to define linear. It seems rather circular. Linear, by human definition, is contingent on a intuitive sense of correct order. That is, we call something linear because it matches the way we perceive time. It is a word whose definition does not appeal to reality. So linearity isn't an objective-- whatever that is-- question because our language and schemas lack such objectivity, a priori.
More importantly, I think we have to ask whether it matters what we call the way we experience time. If our sensory systems, through some error, do not perceive time in the "correct" manner then so what? To answer that you have to appeal to either a) a transcendent conception of what is Real or b) consequences. Per b), it seems like we're doing fine since we exist. If that isn't satisfactory then you return to a) where you'll have to answer that question of faith for yourself.
