The meaning of Nebuchadnezzar's name is "a son of the gods". He was used as an instrument of God"s judgement. In other-words, God used him to prove to him that God was all power and authority and it is ONLY God who will bring divine judgement on all those who refuse to accept for who God is, and make changes in one's unacceptable behavior...thus Nebuchadnezzar would fall into the hands of an angry God.

Nebuchadnezzar was king of Babylon (Babylon is the most famous city from ancient Mesopotamia whose ruins lie in modern-day Iraq 59 miles southwest of Baghdad). He was known to take whatever he pleased and did whatever he desired to do without any regards to others, and made himself "master" of everything, and those he chose to reign under him, he made them pay tribute and honor to him. He allowed those he had chosen to do as they pleased and they gave praises to him for his success. He admired the kings of the world and the praise and glory of men.

He made golden images (statues) of himself and placed them around the world, so that everyone would see and know that he was in power and authority. He was a man full of pride and haughtiness, and abused God's patience when he was called to repentance of his sins. He instead continued to walk in ostentatious boastfulness, vanity and pride. He saw everything as being great and of greatness. He boasted in things he had not accomplished, taking credit for things he had not done or built. Although he was a builder of great cities and building, the metropolis of his empire .

But Nebuchadnezzar's sins provoked God against him... he was vindictive, self-centered, and self-gloating. He abused his power and behaved arrogantly toward God and the people. Yes, he was a successful ruler among the nations and he had influence in the affairs of the people and the churches and the world. However, his desire was to be the head of ALL the nations in the whole world as ruler. He was rich and powerful and loved winning in all thing, and he was victorious. He also desired to be worshiped and praised. Sure, he acknowledged God in heaven as being the God of Israel, and as being God of gods, and Lord of lords and King of kings. BUT, he too, wanted to be equal to God and was in competition with God, to be just as great and powerful as the heavenly God the Creator. Nebuchadnezzar wanted to be King of all kings, Lord of all lords, and god of all the world.

One day, he summoned all the people to attend the dedication of his gold statue of himself, giving a proclamation and command that ALL the people in the land be present and to fall down and worship the gold statue he had made of himself. And all those who would not fall down to worship the statue would be immediately thrown into the midst of a burning fiery furnace. He would become outraged and full of fury if anyone defiled or refused to follow his commands and he would order their punishment to be reinforced.
His pride, lying, and arrogance would not allow him to self examine his unacceptable behavior and deeds with true conviction for change. He listened to no one nor heeded their counsel of his counselors until God intervened and showed Himself up close and personal to Nebuchadnezzar in a mighty way....God showed Himself more powerful to Nebuchadnezzar than he had ever seen. God had to prove His dominance over Nebuchadnezzar so that Neb could relate to what authority and power was all about.

Case in point: One night God came to Nebuchadnezzar in a dream. This dream was very frightening to him, which he demanded answers that his trusted team of surrogates, wise men, and astrologers could not answer. Of course, they gave him all kinds of answers they thought and felt were appropriate, acceptable, and true, but the answers did not satisfy Nebuchadnezzar's restless inner spirit. he knew there had to be better answers somewhere other than what they were telling him the dream meant. The next night God revealed to him his fall from his kingdom and the need for him to repent of his pride and arrogance, and reform his unacceptable behavior. God also revealed to him the consequence and punishment if he DID NOT reform through the prophet of God... Daniel, who was full of godly wisdom and faith. Daniel was a young Jewish lad from Jerusalem who are captured by Nebuchadnezzar and brought to Babylon when he invaded the land. Daniel served the king and his successors with loyalty and trustworthiness yet, he remained true to the God of Israel, and refused to eat " the king's dainties" the fine food of the king but rathered ate only vegetables. Daniels also refused to fall into idolatry and worship the gold statue of the king. Daniel was summoned to come before the king to interpret the dream for Nebuchadnezzar.

Side Bar: Before God executes punishment on us, He always give us warnings to make changes. It is our choice to receive and make those behavioral changes or reject doing so, and suffer the consequences of punishment.

Nebuchadnezzar REFUSED to make those needed changes and rejected what God had told him in the dream after Daniel had interpreted the dream for him.
Therefore, his punishment from God:
1. Nebuchadnezzar was afflicted with mental illness- Boanthropy is a psychological disorder in which the sufferer believes he/she is an animal (cow or oxen, etc.) ... "he was driven from among the people and did eat grass as oxen”. His nails and hair grew long and wild.

2. He was removed from power as king of Babylon, deprived of his honor as a king before the people, and as a man.

3. He lost all of his reasoning and lost his dominion, understanding and memory.

4. He was separated from his family, friends and the people he ruled over and forced into isolation.

5, For seven year Nebuchadnezzar lived hopeless as if he was an oxen eating grass for his food.

6. He was bought to total humiliation and embarrassment before the nations.]/b]

After the seven years, Nebuchadnezzar recovered. God restored him to his right mind, and Nebuchadnezzar was brought to humble humility before God upon recognizing and praising God as his Maker and Creator who had all power and authority. Nebuchadnezzar acknowledged that ONLY GOD was ruler, Lord and King over all things including all that he had accomplished and thought he owned, all his wealth and power as the king of Babylon. Upon giving honor to God alone, and praising God alone for all things, God restored Nebuchadnezzar back as king of Babylon after seven years, as if there had never been any interruptions.

The moral of this story: God brought judgement on Nebuchadnezzar because of his pride and haughtiness, and obstinate, and because he had affronted God. We, the people of America, must be patient and pray that Donald J Trump will repent of his pride and haughty ways, and change his unacceptable behavior as President of our nation, or else he too, will fall into the hands of an angry God.

Donald Trump is a narcissist motivated by the attention-motive and this personality type is a potential ally of the common people whose only strength is their numbers with the capacity to give an incredible amount of attention. You're on dicey ground with someone this fickle and emotional - which way will Caeser's thumb turn? nobody knows - nonetheless this leap into the unknown beats all other offers.
