I like music from most of the decades, but I do think the '60s and '70s were the best, where all the music legends came out of. dancing

Loads of good music across the years. For me, back end of 70's early 80's. Punk, new wave, goth and anything else that spewed forth from the brief raw wound opened up by the Pistols, Clash, et al. Currently listening to "The Scream" by Siouxsie and the Banshees. Haven't heard it for years but still brill.

cool I remember Siouxsie. Wasn't big into punk but I liked the Boomtown Rats.
Watching a programme about Blondie at the mo on BBC4. Legend band!
Yeah, some greats in every decade. Even the '20s to '40s. Cole Porter, Billie Holiday, Nat King Cole.
Shows you don't have to have been around to appreciate music from earlier decades either.

I'm more an artist fan than group or era type. If I went by decades: I'd have to go with late 60s, 70s, and early to mid 90s.

Saw the Boomtown Rats in1978. The theatre got trashed and it was a long time before they allowed bands to play there again.

This decade. They've manufactured an average in sound which is more important than real talent could ever be.

It will be interesting to see if the music from this decade stands the test of time. My kids are 19 & 16 and I've never had to shout "Turn that rubbish down" at them. I've never tried to influence their taste in music but it is on a par with stuff I'd listen to and I never object when they hook their phones up to the car stereo. I did use to have the Kerrang channel on a lot when they were younger so it might have rubbed off a bit.

I miss the small live concerts that used to pop up most weekends all over the UK in the 70's, seeing and even meeting musicians who later on became household names. My fav was Blackbush airport, some amazing memories at concerts held there.

To me all decades give a great either new sound or the classics.
I have been to many many "Big Day outs"

Legends are, and will always be as many more slipping in the zone.

We cannot full stop. music. at that time because of an era.
We love to move ahead and great to have some musicians to flee to the bounce of who they are.

We hotly contest at times when older singers die, we say there goes a great era.
Can we not spread the road is well, paved, yet we must grapple with looking into what we like NOW.

Looks to me pretty ok.

We just need to get over it, remember it, and further our listening, as we should, way back now :banana

Just enjoy.

I would consider the 50's the most important decade in music with the birth of R&R, Doo Wop, and R&B (not the crap that goes by that handle these days). The 50's get short shift though because it only started in the middle of the decade 1955 with Alan Freed. The first half of the decade was consumed with Patty Page, Johnny Ray, Eddie Fisher, Perry Como, Remember "Come-on-a My House" " Tennessee Waltz" "You Belong to Me", and "Half as Much"?

Of the choices given I have to go with the 60's & 70's.

Disco and young girls who had an urge to dance brought the curtain down on R&R.

If it wasn't for the 50,s we wouldn't have rock and pop but the 80s were the most diverse.
Its all about good looking people with no talent nowadays.:

thumbs up Yeah the '50s got it all started, thanks to Elvis and others.
Diverse and colourful and outrageous and fun!

Well it looks like the '80s won with the '70s in second place! cheering

There's a lot to be said for vintage guitars and other instruments but a lot better sounding and quality instruments are being manufactured and used today... imho.

You're probably right galrads. The guitars of the '50's - '80s are more collectors' pride and joy now. Saw a programme where Wayne Rooney has a massive collection of guitars, yet he can't play! sigh bless him, he's not the brightest, but as long as he keeps playing good football he'll be fine, I'm sure. laugh

If I could remember what the code was for putting up youtube videos, I'd put up the dance they did for the Bee Gee's Tragedy song.
