Well, he's gone. Another despot bites the dust. The Iraqi govt. (USA) has spoken. Im taking bets as to how long the execution will show up on LiveLeak. I say within the week.

I agree. Saddam killing then having him killed does nothing. (US backded i might add) IMO If anything it will cause more problems.

While i dont agree with Mr. Hussein and his tactics, "two wrongs do not make a right".

funny how my pals and I were watching a DVD last night and stopped it at 9:50 to "watch" the execution....

the only thing that came up with this whole this is this......when Saddam was "on the run" or in hiding, If I recall correctly, there were about 20 men who had face lifts to look exactly LIKE him....who's to say that when this video does leak out and we are able to watch this torment, that it isn't one of the guys who got the facelift? Why wasn't it filmed LIVE so that ALL the world was able to watch the whole thing? and further more, who's to say that we know FOR SURE that it was him? If guys on death row are openly public for all to see, why not this piece of freaking crap?

I don't think that killing him solved anything really....but he did kill ALOT of innocent people. Basically, he created a genocide there and yes, many were static about his death, no doubt....

I am SOOOOOOOOOO politically incorrect but I just think that instead of an easy way out, he should have been put in the middle of a square and STONED to death..by each and every person there.....just so he could have been able to FEEL the pain he inflicted on soooo many innocent people..one stone at a time........

Wow.. aren't you gruesome. Killing him your way, roll eyes or by hanging as he was ~ the point remains the same. It changes nothing.

Putting him to death no matter what the assigned method, is still putting him to death. The ramifications of this.. can only cause more uprising and killings. You cannot bring about peace ~ with death.

Death was a quick release from the chains that were holding him here. His "hell on earth" was comprised of losing his power, his dignity and misplaced respect ~ living the rest of his days in prison, his freedom taken from him, being in the custody of his enemy's.

For some people.. death is too kind. I believe he was one of them.

Also.. consider this ~ had they not executed him, given time and further wearing down of his spirit and fight.. he may actually have become useful.

Now we'll never really know...

Just something to think about.

My sentiments exactly...I think it was a huge mistake to hang this man...not because he didn't deserve it...but because it now opens up a "pandora's box"...sigh

Honestly I am happy to see that poor excuse for a human being gone. BUT I think they should have tortured him instead of hanging him. Make him suffer for all those he killed and those he caused suffering and grief to.

And I don't think because he is gone that things will get better. I think the worse is yet to come thanks to that (insert word of your choice here)Bush. The wars have just begun in my opinion and we will never see any ending to it.

Lets remember that he was just one man, he didnt run around killing and destroying by himself, he had the backing of his nation, the man is irrelivant, if not him, it would have been someone else. Killing Saddam may have been justified, but who really decides that?? The people that win thats who. Is that right, I don't know, just something to think about.

Wow! Only Canadians have an opinion on this? Interesting for sure. Look, I am a child of the Vietnam War- my only brother was there for two terms and to this day has not "recovered" from it. And because of his not recovering it has been a very, very hard life for all of us who love him. I say that to say this, I am not in favor of war, however, sometimes I am afraid they may be a necessary evil. Canada has not been attacked....ever....has it? Until you have "walked a mile" be careful of what you say. You saw all the photos and news programs but you didn't smell the death. You didn't walk blocks away from the site and still smell the rotting corpses, did you? Its a very different thing to actually be a part of something so horrible than it is to see it on TV. Trust me on this one. I am not a political person AT ALL and even being an American citizen, I will gladly admit that I don't know or understand SO VERY MUCH of what goes on... but!... Bush was Governor of the state in which I call home. He is a good man, regardless of anything else. Can any of you even begin to imagine how hard it would be to be the leader of The United States? I mean, seriously! It's all well and fine to sit in your comfortable chair and say what should and shouldn't be done on this or that subject. But if you were really sitting in HIS chair, do you still believe it would be so easy? If you do, you're an idiot! And its not like he says "This is what should be done" and its done. There are so many other people who, I believe, make the real decisions. The President of the United States is more of a Figure Head than anything else, in my humble opinion.
As far as Saddam vs The Talaban & Ossama Bin Laden goes- I'm not personally sure who did what. But Saddam did many, many horrible things to his own people for the majority of his "reign". Was it the U.S.'s fight to get into? If they were (Saddam's) people who did what was done to NYC- then Yes, the U.S. most definitely should have been involved. We may be The Big Dog in this world, but we have also always tried to help all the smaller dogs as well. And remember, even as U.S. citizens, we don't even know what all our government does out in the other parts of the world- good or bad. We hear what they want us to hear. I've always believed that. And just for the record- I don't think it was Saddam who was executed. I never will. Pure Evil doesn't die nor can it be killed. Just as Goodness and Love can't either.
All I am saying to you, dear neighbors to the north, or to anyone here in the States be careful HOW and WHO you pass judgement on. Its alot easier to do from the comfort of your own home. Isn't it?

LoneStar, this is the Canadian side, hence why its Canadian views posted. But anyone can post and we are all entitled to our views.

Most of us dont think Americans are bad people. We think Bush and his government are the problem.

You speak of being attacked. Ummm are you referring to the terriorist attacks? i assume you are because the US has not been attacked by a country in decades. correct me in i am wrong please.

The terrorist attacks were a shame indeed but they had nothing to do with Saddam. Bush used that as an excuse and lied to the world to try to justify his war. The US government has stated that Saddam had no link to 9/11, Osama Bin Laden or Al Quada.

So why invade Iraq? oh right Bush says they have weapons of mass destruction. Yup years and years ago they did..but since sanctions and the first Gulf War Saddam had been kepted in check. He was no threast to the US. Bush falsified facts and distorted the truth to the American people and to the rest of the world. He should get the boot. Impeech him.
Not a bashing to you or American people. Just to Bush coz he is a chicken that needs the boot.

thumbs up Lonestarbaby, I hope you can hear the shouts of praise and the thunderous applaud and ovation you have just recieved from this family and home. Kuddo's to you for standing up for your President, your country and the war, that not many in this country care to truly understand.
Our "leader" and government (at the time) sat on the sidelines, playing "neutral" when he should have been standing up and standing united againest all these people and countries that have been terrorizing and killing for far too long.....
