My friend took one on a job to find marker pins on a piece of land.
His gps said we were on the road, while we were at the farthest pin from the road.
I'm an old school charts, compass, and dead reckoning man.
They used to be intentionally left un-accurate , guys who used them for finding fishing rocks always had to look around a bit for their fav rocks . Just before the 1991 Iraq war GPS got very accurate . Last survey job I worked on all the angles and measurements were taken with electronic gear , we later set up a GPS unit made for surveying to prove several points ,GPS repeater had to be left hour or so while it did its work . No margins of error with the bigger units .
HexagonKeySet: Reading that ... well, it's hardly surprising given the number of (strategic / tactical ) accidents the US military have ... like 'accidentally' bombing hospitals, friendly troops, shooting journalists from helicopters. It's just a game eh ... nothing serious about it !
Nah - Their bloody US Navy don't know their arses from their elbows so they sure can't navigate.
