You've committed a crime and you're given a choice, spend twenty years in prison or be sent back in time 100,000 years to an island surrounded by 200 miles of ocean. The island in uninhabited but it does have wildlife. There is no coming back to the present. you can bring anything you can carry except firearms.

What would you miss most of modern life? Music? a car? the internet? MacDonalds? Beer?
If you chose prison in 20 years you'll be back with loved ones and people and all the modern world has to offer.

Easy one for me. At my age I'd take prison and get free room and board, free health care, conjugal visits, freed education, free internet access, free cable tv. I think I'd much rather share a cell versus what could be eternal isolation.

I'll probably take the island please ... though that might depend on the location and nature of the climate?
'all I can carry' that would be a helluva lotta gear really but would likely include a good set of knives and a steel for sharpening, an axe, nylon rope, string, fishing line, carabiners, a cast iron deep pan (lasts forever and multipurpose) flintsteel firestarter, magnifying glass
Then again, 20 years ... with good behaviour probably out in ten, maybe even parole after 3 to 5 ?

It seems you missed the part where it stated the island in uninhabited meaning there are no Humans of any kind.
Also, you say Neanderthals are good people, Have you ever met a real Neanderthal I don't mean some of the blind dates you may ave had?

For real Lilith I do have a hockey stick
it was my daughter's when we used to live in USA and she was playing jockey.
She has kept it and it is around some where.
Yet, here it is not needed for it either but because criminals here have long arms and they usually are a dozen or so

Well its always good to know how to protect oneself I really did keep a bat behind my front door as well, had someone try to stick their foot in it one day, to force their way inside...I reached around in one fell swoop and gave them the knocking they never had
Needless to say they were easy to spot ...hobbling around on one foot
