If that were the case then you have no volition, free will and you'd be little more than a zombie always waiting fearfully for 'what bad thing fate might have in store for you' eh?
Oh, hold up a minute ... that's probably most western people who believe in 'fate' innit?
In reality, the spirit being understands the 'lessons' that are to be learned in each life cycle and 'self selects' parents and circumstances under which those lessons may be learned. However, having taken on earthly bodies we are not able to access that data and so we have to learn the lessons as we learn what lessons we came to learn.
As an example, some of us are here to 'learn about handling money' and are either born into poverty. or 'have money' and lose it? Maybe we'd like to imagine 'learn about money' means being a Warren Buffet or George Soros or other multi billionaire ... perhaps we have to learn to deal well with pennies before pounds and tens before thousands and millions, let alone billions ?
Similarly with love (and everything else)
Love particularly can be a bitter sweet experience isn't it ... sometimes we have to learn to live, to continue, to persevere without for a time, maybe even most or all of a lifetime in order to 'learn fully' so that we can experience the other side.
A poor comparison maybe, but look at how many middle aged guys buy super-bikes and hi-performance sports cars. They often don't 'properly' learn how to handle 'lower level' machines and often they come to inflict horrendous harm or even mortal grief upon themselves and their families eh?
Learning to be happy 'as is' is probably the best way to move through trouble ... whatever you have in life 'right now' was created ONLY by yourself anyway!
