Your kind words, help and advice don't go unnoticed, as i discovered last night.
I was out with work colleagues, celebrating my retirement,, they were mostly young ladies in their mid 20's and 30's
I was taken back by their lovely comments, about how, i influenced them, was always there to listen to their problems, kind in word and deed,to them, and how they appreciated it so much.
My point here is,,,, not to blow my own trumpet,, but to say, kindness and a listening ear go a long way, to some youth that are finding life hard sometimes

Yes i think they know that, but it is always nice to get a helping hand when needed.

Dear Anna
Happy Retirement
And my own experience is that we always value seniors in the workplace, due to their experience of course but yes even more often also due to a laidback attitude in stead of 'can-you-pls-ask-quick-i-am-in-a-hurry' attitude which for some IS just an attitude to prove how their own importance...sad!
Probably they will miss you much more than you miss them

Thank you very much,, yes you maybe right about that,, an old head ,having gone through most of what they are still going through,, anyway i was glad that i had an impact on them..
Yes some of them told me that they would miss me, and i will miss having a laugh with them.
So now what are you planning to do with all the time you have? When I retired from the 9 to 5 routine I became a messenger delivering small packages. No more bosses telling me what to do. I felt free and totally self reliant, I no longer depended on some heartless corporation that cared not one bit about me. No more puppet on a string. I truly believe that change added years to my life.

There can be a lot of stress in some jobs, and for it is worth , i think that you did the right thing,, i am currently advising my ex to take early retirement from a stressful job in the city (london), as it can affect a persons health.
As for myself, i hope to enjoy my freedom, and i have lots that i hope to do.
I might also do voluntary work , if i think my time needs filling in

Kindness has many rewards and being acknowledged for it makes it all worthwhile.
To project kindness it must derive from listening seeing hearing. One can drop a gold coin for many causes. But could you expand your life scene for one hour a month or any hours? to actually share your kindness to touch share with another less fortunate?.
When retirement evolves, should it be then we volunteer?
There are many young families with childies in need, many elderly alone, many veterans sitting silent. Copious numbers of single parents and together parents that having some little time together, can make a world of difference.
To extend a hand is the step.
Its only time they need. About time we put our face to it.
