I dont lose my temper very often.
But putting distance between yourself and the cause of the annoyance is vital.

Listen to music watch something
at least to distract from thinking abt negative
Stuff.
Most of all avoid some situations that drag you

I would get arrested for doing something like that around my home. However there is a beach 40 miles away where you can do that.

You can do that in Marseille ,too. There is one particular beach that all these things are permitted. Actually, you may feel shy with your clothes on but for them is a second nature. You do something like that in USA you definitely find yourself in psych premises!

Before I get to the blood is boiling mode I ask myself if getting irate will have an effect on the situation.
Will it change the outcome if I lash back at the person. Most of the time the answer is that it won't.
If it won't change the situation then I put the responsibility on myself to change my environment and let the anger go.
Sometimes I have to go back to the situation to make the other person see things my way especially when it comes to medical insurance companies which I had to deal with recently when they wanted me to pay for something that I knew for a fact I didn't have to pay for. I got my way without boiling my blood.
Sugar goes a lot further then vinegar.
