I think it is a great way to meet people you would otherwise never get to meet. Everyone is in their comfort zone on their own turf, no pressures and sometimes, this way, you get to find who they are.

Yes, I realise that people can pretend to be someone they are not but if they are genuine and looking for that special someone, they are tuned in to find out more about you.

I find though, the down side, that a lot of people are becoming so comfortable with this social networking media that they dont want to take it out into the 'real world', they are quite happy to stay stuck on a pc and never get out or interact outside of the virtual world; they lose the ability to interact in the physical world.........and that is a great pity.
Another down side is, with the delay of sending and receiving messages, even on the fastest network, it allows each person to think of an answer, to rewrite it, to take time to be inventive. This advantage of time is not there when you meet so, sometimes, the person you meet 'in the flesh' is not the personality you meet when you meet. The confident humorous guy (in my case) turns out to be very quiet fidgety introverted and under confident without any humor whatsoever.

This Online dating scene is meant to be a platform to something else, to meeting people and connecting in the real world. It is a window to life. It is not meant to BE life.

I like to get chatting to someone, find out whether we are compatible and whether we could last an hour chatting over coffee. Once I figure that its a runner, I go for it.

Thats my tripenny bit!! peace

I never had much faith in it to be honest, but I decided to actually give it a try again, I think people have higher expectations online, plus a disconnect exists as it's not in person.

Won't meet anyone on this site anyway.

It's just a talk shop, nobody wants to go on an actual date.
