Weather precipitation & gravity will ensure radioactive ash/particles are in the first instance, dumped onto Alaska,
Canada, the contiguous lower 48 down to the US/Mexican border ...then the rest of the planet ...there will be a permanent effect.
"experts" estimate a wintertime ETA of between 30 to 60 hours ...most just say within 3 days.
l'm not an expert, l research history/prehistory ...l wonder what an expert digger might find out

Fallout has been a "fact of life" for many years considering all the critical incidents/accidents, meltdowns and the 2000 + tests (granted, not all were atmospheric). I am not fearful of a Massive nuclear exchange between the USA and North Korea. Now, if the rhetoric was between Trump and Putin and had escalated to this level - what can I do about it? Fallout is part of the possibilities presented by the 21st Century (a carryover from all of the fallout from the 20th!) Keep some Potassium Iodide on hand....

That Geiger Counter is probably manufactured from recycled metal, smelted & forged before WW2 ...and free of radiation contamination.Sadly, all modern manufactured goods & living creatures, including us, are contaminated with fallout
