The gun laws in my country are strict - yet, we rank 12th on per capita ownership...the UK? About the middle of the pack at 82nd,...but your are far from being gun-free....

I see we have 4.3 guns per 100 people compared to 112.6 in the US
They would be mainly owned by farmers I would think.
I'm glad there is good gun control here.
I don't want liberal gun laws here.

Firstly, I still live in a country of a great deal of wilderness. Secondly...last country you recall that never waged warfare, that was civilized so to speak....??? Weapons, be they fists, or rocks, or arrows, or guns, or biological agents, or gamma ray bursts (okay...my prototype still has a way to go!)....such is the way for ALL life...This is a "utopia" neither of us will see.

It's worked for centuries but it seems like you & many of your country folk are brainwashed into thinking that owning a gun is protection, when in fact , the real reason is , it generates revenue for your government .

Of course there are illegal guns in every country.
But they are still in countries with legal guns
And the more guns there are in a country, the more shootings there will be, whether the guns are legal or illegal.

About 30.8 here - yes, farmers, hunters, trappers and such. Laws are strict here....but there are indeed many a weapon.

I understand that! And I applaud this. But guns in the hands of good people are not a threat. I own a gun...have not shot anyone. I was a weapons repairman in the military...never shot anyone. Why should law abiding citizens not be allowed to protect themselves?
Oh, BTW, are you implying that the U.S.A. is not a civilised country?
