I don't have an addiction to love nor do I have an addiction to "foolish notions".
To put hope in ones own future is by no means a foolish notion....to put hope in finding someone decent that u may want to spend the rest of ur life with is not a foolish notion.
When u get married u take an oath of till death do us part ...so is the sanctity of marriage now also a foolish notion to you??
Do u not enter anything good with some degree of hope that it could last...or do u enter everything with a negative mindset that it will last for a short period of time because some spiritual leader has told me to think this way instead of having the awareness of my own mind to decide for myself what is worth hoping for or not???

Well said that man ... having said that we also learn as we age that it's good if we can " learn to surrender the things of youth " ( as per the line in Desiderata )
That allows us to enjoy 'being in the moment as we are' rather than holding on to notions we held in the past ... ?

Reminds me of a story about two bums in a shop doorwayd getting ready to settle down for the night.
