So, alcohol isn't completely legal, yes?
Why drugs should be?
There are no harmless drugs...

Of course it should be legal and available from the place where you buy other drugs i.e. dispensing chemists. In fact I'd legalise all drugs.

Raising tax revenue, decriminalising users, reducing prison populations, reducing police and legal costs to society, reducing crime associated with funding habit and giving users consumer rights.

Look at a heroin junkie. give him or her a regular controlled supply with clean needles and regular health checks. It reduces overdoses, HIV infection rate due to shared needles, improves home life stability for partners and family of user.

Next, look at the supply chain of drugs. The grower, in the case of cannabis gets peanuts for his crop.

I can't remember the programme but the other day I heard of farmer getting $7.00 per Kilogram of cannabis. By the time it got to "the street" it's value had risen to $7,000 per Kilo. Each illegal step of the supply chain acts as money laundering facility for a host of other crimes. People trafficking, arms trade etc.

I've smoked weed on and off for 40 years, I'd love to be able to go to the chemists and buy the strength and quantity I desire. I'm happy to provide I.D. and pay sales tax. I wouldn't supply to underage or vulnerable people or try to get someone hooked on heroin. (this is a popular activity of dealers , supply at low cost then hike up the price)

I know many people will be horrified with my suggestion but look at how it would affect all parties.

The war on drugs failed before it even started and it's expensive to society in many, many ways.

I could write about this all day but that will do for now.
