CS is like the EU seemed a great idea to join, but then realisations set in, and just like the EU almost impossible to leave unless you have great strength and willpower, on leaving you will find the world is much larger than this site or the EU would have you believe.

No it is not a waste of time, if you know what you want, as it can entertaining, educational (rare), and fun. As everything, it has two sides.
If you are talking about meting people,it is possible, but dont look at the forums/blogs - most are "players", "pretenders" or whatever they think they are. There are plenty good, intelligent people on CS. Find them, it is not that difficult.
CS can be a dating site, or an entertaining site. I use it for both.
