Redex: At this moment what the outcome is no matter but the sheer brutality of so called law and order and then the King does not condem
I saw hotels telling Spanish Police to get out, so the brutality was more than the money. How could a normal human being hit civillians so with rubber bullets truncheons, i saw one women being dragged by her hair Disgusting in so call civalised society.
Well, the govt. could have allowed the use of their Spanish Foreign Legion but afterwards, there would have been no Catalan...Who knows, they may ; one scenario could evolve/ devolve into the Govt. declaring Catalan independent, then send in their Legion troops to quell a hostile state...end of Catalan. When push comes to shove the govt. would use any means necessary to maintain the Spanish State. Regional autonomy by the central govt. notwithstanding...They firmly believe in the old adage that the Castle that parleys is already half taken. That altitude in the long run does not win friends and influences people in any sort of positive manner; sometimes a State should/ must become less rigid for its own peoples. Confederation is always better than internal dictatorship...

Katte is was peaceful from Catalonians and to watch police bring such violence to civilians was terrible.
I will be reading the ins and outs more deeply but before that, the violence was unesessary and horrific. Certainly was not winning hearts with intelligent logic.
chris27292729: So the Spanish were savages in the past while colonizing. and the British doing the same, colonization, they did peacefully..
That wasn't the point, Chris. Building the armada took smarts and it makes me wonder what happened to the brain of Spain, Franco must have had it shot.
In the 2017 edition of its annual TransformingWorld Atlas, Bank of America Merrill Lynch illustrates the growing secessionist movement across the continent.
The report says: "Many areas in Europe have strong secessionist movements (e.g. Scotland, Catalonia, Basque, Flanders, Veneto) or have political parties agitating for greater ruling autonomy.”
The map highlights just how many areas want total independence - along with those seeking a bit more autonomy, but not a total split.
Those demanding separation - featured in bold on the map - include Northern Ireland, the Isle of Man and Cornwall in the UK.

aries1234: So what happens next? Just as Madrid will not recognise the results of a referendum both it and the courts have declared illegal, so it will not recognise an independence declaration. The Spanish prime minister, Mariano Rajoy, still has the option of tackling the independence challenge by invoking article 155 of the Spanish constitution.
The article, which has never been used, allows the Spanish government to step in and take control of an autonomous region if it “does not fulfil the obligations imposed upon it by the constitution or other laws, or acts in a way that is seriously prejudicial to the general interest of Spain”.
Spain lost its colonies by fire. So, these people from Catalonia have to give Madrid FIRE
