Don't forget that of all the different Catholic churches, it is only the Roman church that demands celibacy from it's priests. I stay in the Roman church to add my voice of dissent to this unneccessary and archaic policy and strive for change.peace

See I can't see that...cause it's predetermined by "someone else how he must live his life in God"...so how can he really truly choose all of it?

I think things can evolve and change...only stupid people never change their minds...

I am happy single...and I will be happy with the one I choose to be withangel

ok, and your purpose of achievment of adding your voice of
dissent is???????????doh

Is it for your own personal gratification that you are heard?
Or have you personally spoken with priests crying to get
married?I think not!!

I am sure they are big boys..and if they wish to get married
they can move on!! If they wish to heed to their individual callings..
they will!!

and they are not speaking here, you are!!!

Actually, rather than try to keep it simple you have muddied the waters further...are you saying that faith alone will give them the insight and wisdom to counsel?

There is a silent majority of R.C's who share this opinion. The majority of R.C's are not against birth control. Yes, I alone will have little or no effect in changing the Vatican's mind on both these issues. They will change though, albeit slowly. If everyone leaves the church than there is no impetus for the Vatican to change their stance. I wholeheartedly agree that men, and hopefully women one day, will line up around the block for vocations once this 1100 year old unneccessary rule is lifted. The only reason it was implemented was so the church had absolute control over it's clergy. The Vatican didn't want it's priests serving two masters, family vs church. Every other Catholic denomination has either never had the rule, or has abolished it centuries ago. Nothing changes if nothing changes. Reform only occurs if the folks that want changes, stay.

I get the sense that you have no real opinion yourself, if you do, Id like to hear it. In your post to which I am quoting here, it appears that you are for married RC priests. In your later post you seem to contradict yourself. I quote...

You question my desire to stay to possibly help affect change. I would never presume the power or influence to make that happen on my own. It's the principle...one that our Catholic leaders in Rome will have to deal with at some point. You seem all for a change but have a problem with someone staying to possibly see that happen. Your not a duck and run type with difficult issues, are you?

Ed,
That's what that scripture says alright but you need to back up and read the thing from verse one...so you can see where thats coming from. Anyone can pick something negative outta the book and try to pin that on God...most people do that anyways and then in the same breath clain they believe in God and God is soo good...blah blah blah ...yea whatever...frustrated it's a crazy world we live in laugh peace
