It's shameful, although the government does provide free medical & dental care , free travel on public transport & other discounts for people of pensionable age.
However, £130 pw is scandalous for someone who has worked & payed taxes all their working life!

Hi Tru

I don't have a financial background, but I'm sure it is simply public policy dictates it.
When other top-up measures are taken into account, the UK jumps further up the grid.

There is talk of bringing in a common EU pension which would up it considerably. But I guess that won't affect Britain now.

With the lowest comntributions (there is a high and lower scale) to the fund,
and with up to 15 years,to lowest scale, you get about 115 pounds per week.

We're more right-wing than mainland Europe the idea being that old people do more of their own work and save for retirement privately.

And relatively speaking it's still a lesser example of this. Old people feel the least of Thatcher in our welfare state even tho they voted for her, young disabled people dream of being over 70, and can anyone live off UK unemployment benefit?

It's a good question, I guess because there are more people living longer, so the pension pot money gets thinly spent, wages in Germany, France on average, are higher so more money going into the pot.

We also pay substantially more into the EU coffers, which has to come from somewhere so taking from the pension pot is easy.
One of the hardest things for me to grasp is why a pension is taxable, we paid tax when we were earning, why tax us again?

Only recently there was the report on the elderly being the only Britains not suffering the way old people are voting is to ensure welfare and public services they use last long enough for them to die. Axing education, attacking the disabled and impoverishing everyone who works in service to the grey.

I think nonext of us should really depend on a state pension to keep them comfortable in life it should really be seen as a bonus rather than the main source of income.

It will get worse as the average age gets older, and there are less people of working age to earn money and pay taxes.

I complain when I see how much I am paying into my pension scheme each month, but hopefully I will be glad when the time comes

Hammond is quite desperate for money to spend on infrastructure to try and raise productivity and digitalize the UK so it has a better chance of making a success of independence - hence why they tried to get the Winter Fuel Allowance off you. But the problem the tories have is old people vote for them and as much as they'd like to act in the national interest their electorate won't allow it.

Quite - And -
1. Not all Pensioners get free NHS Dental treatment unless they qualify for certain benefits.
2. There are no NHS dental practices accepting NHS patients where I live now due to Government cuts so they are privets.
3. Those of us who paid the extra government incentive contributions when we were working have been punished for doing so since Brown was Chancellor and have always had pension incomes at least 27% below Germany.
4. No politician of any party has ever had the guts to raise that issue in Europe, the UK media, or in Parliament
5, Note Filth = Police
Pensioners who have raised that specific issue at public meetings in the South with Politicians in words of one syllable quoting EU official statistics and have been threatened by PLANTED plain clothes Filth and threatened with prosecution. -- The only reason no action has been taken is because the public who objected AT THE TIME outnumbered the Filth and Black,White & Asians challenged the law of free speech in our place of Birth.

I take no prisoners

What Britain's elder generation are doing is setting the hardest task for the younger generations(Brexit)whilst making sure everyone under 50 is ill-equipped with the skills and tools necessary for the job. In its own fashion history repeats old people are doing the precise opposite of the old old people. If you were born in 1941 your parents endured every privation to make a better life for you and you have grown up to do the exact opposite of them.

You divided Europe in an unneccesary quarrel where your parents ended that division. You'll be known as the worstest generation by the history books when they're not written by members of your own generation, and that year is arriving soon as power falls into the hands of fresh blood and old people no longer control all the politics and purse strings of society.

How much does your pension increase by for every baby you make after you are 65?

I would think the government would provide you with replace, ent dentures annually, a larger apartment and free food and transportation in addition to the increased monthly benefit check with each additional baby.
