Nobody's perfect and even in the best relationship, each of us falls down and get up again, hopefully with given hand of understanding to each other different needs...and to see and accept an imperfect person perfectly and still love him/her completely; that's a joy of life.

Your questions made me think now and I can frankly say "No", never consciously compared men...If I'm in a relationship or even just dating the last thing on my mind will be my ex...

I've met women and come to find out later they are widows. They compare men, measure them up to the gold standard they lost. They probably don't want to but when the widow(ears) put someone on a pedestal like that it's probably hard not too, especially if there are children. I've been guilty of that. I like to live in the present.

I didn't say perfect relationship
I absolutely agree that no one is perfect, but I think it is possible to have a very near as perfect friendship, a relationship has more expectations so perfection is never possible.

ChesneyChrist: I don't approach each new relationship as fresh as a virgin nor has it been so long that I've forgotten my experience with women. I compare how each woman makes me feel, and why. I don't expect my current girlfriend to be equal and superior to my ex in every way nevertheless experience matters, it does evolve my personality it serves no good to consider only the prospects of the next and last 5 minutes.
