MikeD12: I know people from my band days who studied privately with sympathetic professional working guitarists who also doubled on Banjo both 4 & 5 strings - (Not 3 chord wonders) - Then some went on to specialise on Banjo & Uke with George Formby Ukele / Banjo Society group, There are many branches in the UK -

Formby's the man to learn from...

If you wanna be a clone, in a ukulele marching band.

If you wanna learn to play the uke like a man, study Jake.

Jake Shimabukuro is an American ukulele virtuoso and composer known for his fast and complex finger work. His music combines elements of jazz, blues, funk, rock, bluegrass, classical, folk, and flamenco. Wikipedia
