Well, the british military on the ground, realised they had to accept that their native troops would chop off the hands & feet of the "killed in action" for tasty evening grills on pointy sticks, over the campfires ...and they realised that cleaning-up the battlefield became a breeze ...the dead were butchered & literally disappeared burger

Where's the problem? Don't tell me you have never had barbequed maori babies fingers, a NZ delicacy I was led to understand, better than suckling pig.

mmm, actually New Zealand history has undergone a long process of sanitization ...a large scale bone gathering exercise was quietly undertaken in the 1900s by maori ...the place used to be a blood-soaked butcher shop, especially on all the beach areas ...favourite meat was 12 year old girls ...back then you could be chatting to a young teenage girl one minute ...5 minutes later her decapitated head & guts would be cast aside on the track & the man walking in front of you would have her hands tied together around his neck/her legs over his shoulders or her butchered body would be hanging on a fence ...girls stupid enough to run away from home would be knocked on the head & turned into a suprise dinner in the next village ...human tastes like pork, but sweeter grin

Mugabe.

1st Liberator of the native black people, from white rule.
and then,

Oppressor, irrespective of color in his own country.

A repeated phenomenon amongst African leaders.

Speaking of Zimbabwe, sort of, our misguided CIC Crazy In Chief, is trying to lift the import ban on Elephant body parts from Zimbabwe and Zambia. This action will encourage more killing of these already threatened animals.

Reversing the ban now, when Zimbabwe is in political chaos and appears to have no ability or desire to protect its elephants, is outrageous and inexplicable

The only reason I can think of for this action is it will probably result somehow in trump and/or his family making a lot of money but I haven't figured out how yet. Is there a trump hotel in these countries that caters to big game hunters?dunno

He's supposed to be the POTUS, why on earth is he getting involved with Elephant body parts? Surely he has more important things to do such as preventing a nuclear war with a backward country that borders China.doh

Sorry if I've deflected this thread.

Really? You know the full history of Zimbabwe?
As Rhodesia it was known as the Jewel of Africa, due to the prosperity under British ideology, one of the richest of all African countries. It is since Mugabe took control in the 1980s that it has steadily gone downhill.

Yes you are right, they were major exporters of wheat during those times.. it's a beautiful country but totally ruined by Mugabe regime.. I ve been there many times (worked in tourism).. Victoria Falls, private game reserves will leave an awesome impressions.. Same as native people, very friendly..

People there and in South Africa hope that good change is ahead.. Only time will show.

Indeed, I still have wonderful memories from my childhood, especially the noise of the falls and the rainbows created by the spray rising up.
On my father's lounge wall there is a shield made from zebra hide and short spear, given to him by a tribal elder for some help he did, it is a very proud memento and one that one day I will have the privilege to hang on my wall.

No I didn't forget, that was not true in the 1950-60s, the rich farmers employed native Africans, built homes, schools, hospitals for the local people. Had the white immigrants never entered Rhodesia, the majority of the indigenous population would have had a far harder life, similar to the one they eventually got after Mugabe took control.

I was born and brought up in Kenya, my father employed over 20 native Africans in the small company he ran, he also provided financial aid, scholarships for local school children to enter universities.

To suggest that all that was done by the British in African countries was bad, is to admit an outstanding level of ignorance. Maybe some of the ideology was misplaced and certainly some whites mistreated local people, but you cannot tar all with the same brush.

History has shown that those African countries run by the British, became prosperous and raised the level of life for the mainstream population, history also shows that since those same countries became independent, they have fallen backwards and are now struggling to survive. Thankfully China has now taken on some responsibilities and is helping to rebuild some African countries.

Hear Hear thumbs up thumbs up
Well spoken and quite true. I believe the Dutch also contributed to dragging stone age African cultures into the 20th century and were rewarded by being kicked out and robbed.
