And if anything the British government takes away my freedom to prey on people. It oppresses my ability to oppress you and I would have to move outside Europe and the Commonwealth to pick on someone far smaller than me with help from the state.

Just remember without the repression of the state the traditionalists would have won in the 19th century and China today could not look like a scene from Dickensian England without state power exercising on behalf of might is right and war and nationalism dealing with the surplus population.

Now in the mid-20th century the greatest generation created a new state where welfare was the main focus and the drive was to improve the lot of the surplus population and the dispossessed. Then came Thatcher and the new might is right and since then we have the return of Dickens, places in the world which look like Victorian England and consequently the luddites are back in action. Luddites are what happens when the masses realise they would have been better off in the last century and it is true that the 18th century was a much better life than the 19th.

Can you say which places in the world look like Victorian England? I would love to visit them.

No? Maybe a figment of an over imaginative mind.grin

Although this isn't might as such, it's luck. Globalisation created fatter profits for a monopolistic capitalism and provided work for a generation of not altogether talented westerners who know far less than they think they do.

The Thatcherite response to choking 4000 people to death every day is to ignore it, they come like a Marie Antoinette figure with let them eat cake(although she never actually said that, it's a mistranslation)until it all blows up in thier stupid face. Global capitalists create world wars through a combination of unrestrainable in scale might is right and a not knowing they were born.

The Beatles and the Stones didn't come from nowhere.

And neither did X Factor and Justin Bieber

There's a difference between social democratic creatives and free market popularity contest.

And you see it everywhere you go. Any country which embraced Thatcherism in the 1980s is less creative, healthy and sophisticated than its neighbours today and has a strong reactionary/luddite movement. Basically the UK and the US, New Zealand doesn't count because free markets work better on the frontier and basically wherever no one else exists(it's an anti-social economic system). But in dense nations with concentrated urban centres the state must act to improve the lot of the working classes or pay the price of not doing so.

And this is why all the most successful managers of today's capitalism are former communists. It works in two ways. One is the regimented population and the way they become like a citizen soldier slavishly obedient to the boss, and the other is the absence of rights and personality when I say free markets are anti-social and work better where people don't exist then no rights is the same thing; effectively the Chinese people don't exist like you or I, in China you don't need to deal with human beings as human beings and that's why it is today's most successful capitalist state.

And Trump doesn't dehumanise people just for the hell of it he wants a more profitable capitalism and this relies on grinding down your sense of self-worth over the years. He sees eye to eye with Xi Jinping for a reason, he's buttering the West up to be more like the Chinese(a slavishly obedient fodder).

Youth will be a problem for both of men. Youngsters will turn around and say "I'm a human being, my life has value" - the antithesis of capitalism - because they haven't worked their whole lives in a job they hate or spent the last 15 years on CS. Brexit and Trump are a declaration of war on bright-eyed and bushy-tailed posterity.
