Yeah, I could probably manage to get you one. Are you in a hurry or can it wait until the morning?

Fundamentally Fascism is a crisis of progress. In reality there's plenty to go around but it's just not going around - the rich don't want you to understand that. In the eyes of the money men mankind doesn't deserve the quality of life which modern science makes possible and they employ a variety of tricks to cheat you out of your own inheritance. The working classes of the world are denied their heritage by the power of usury.

In reality the 1950s with all its consumer comforts and quality of life could have happened in 1933. The material and technical ability was there to create those conditions. But it took a war to destroy big capitalism and reset business back into its pioneer stage where people once again had equal opportunities and a whole new world of possibilities. The material ability was there in 1933, what wasn't there was the will. It is the will and the will alone which is needed - in everything.

Which isn't to say we'll necessarily turn commie. Important things have changed over the last century in the way money is created and I don't believe capitalism has any idea what to do. They don't know what to do about patent law and the internet and data etc, most money today is created by already having money or it is socially created. it doesn't much come from wages and active participation in the supply side of the economy, the economy chiefly uses you as an investor and as a consumer. Labour(be it professional, skilled or casual)is an ever-diminishing share of the pie.

Anyway, the main welfare policy should be UBI - minimum income for everyone - and you should get paid everytime you search google and for the content you put on Facebook and Instagram. Big capitalism makes trillions off your personal information - and for many people this is all you'll be good for - and society will collapse unless these profits are shared.

This is the correct response to the Great Recession just as the 1950s was the correct response to the Great Depression. Capitalism has to reconfigure/reset the way it works or it stagnates in a monopoly, no change in capitalism will destroy capitalism. But it's like the 1930s, we have to deal with fascists and has-beens before we arrive at any solutions to our problems and it's purely a matter of attitude. A few people in the 1930s predicted how the 1950s was going to work - and they were right - but you can't win an argument just by being right particularly when politics is as emotional today as it was in the 1930s.
