What is the difference between marble and granite ?

As I was told this is granite.

If has an overall pinkish color with black veins and splotches.

It is about 5cm thick and polished.

It has been cut from a huge piece.

Where is it's origin ?

Can u help identifying it ?

KarloradoFL: Though both are natural and quarried from the earth, they possess very different properties. The biggest difference between granite and marble is their porosity. ... Granite, whose crystalline structure makes it more resistant to abrasion, staining, and discoloration, is in fact, the strongest of all natural stones.

The outside of Capitol Building of the State of Colorado is made of 2 billion year old grey granite, quarried within the State. The top of the dome is covered with real gold leaf that was donated by the Colorado Gold Miners Association.

Thanx a lot.

Good info !

KarloradoFL: Marble is made from limestone which is made from coral reefs in a sea which is subjected to heat and pressure over time which makes it into marble. Granite is an igneous rock that was formed from magma deep inside the earth and pushed up to the earths crust through continental drifts and earthquakes.

Keep them coming, but in bigger pieces if possible.

Thanx again ?

Google is not my friend today. The closest I want to get to a pc is my smallest tablet.

Had too much of computers today.
