serene56: Apparently our police will be out in force across the nation on NYE in an effort to protect our citizens from loonies who have lately been driving their vehicles into crowded pedestrian areas as well as the usual yobbos who get drunk and punch people for no reason, landing them in hospital or worse, dead.

Yes, I´ve noticed extra coffee being delivered to 24 hour petrol stations where the cops hang out at night, should see them through until the morning

Does your country have extra security measures in place
We do not have terrorism but because of domestic crime and violence, people choose not to go out at night -the most possible- and avoid some places. Another problem is the people who drink alcohol and drive, so there will be stops at the major streets for them to take the mandatory alcohol-test and many will be sent to jail, which is good for them and for other people.
