I was watching a TV program the other night about sleep which involved audience participation conversing

Many said they only get 4-6 hours a night which I found astonishing (my requirement is 8-9)

How much sleep do you get and do you think you need more wine

Hi wave

I wonder if I would have sleep difficulties anytime....I sleep as much as I can, but usually it's no more than 7 hours (once I did almost 24 hours), what I do not have it´s a typical schedule, it has been always this way dunno

I also have had my sleep tested with an EEG (Electroencephalogram test used to detect abnormalities related to electrical activity of the brain) and yeap! I reach atypical deep sleep levels. Abnormal in normality....it´s supposed to be an extraordinary thing, it´s ok.

cheers

Hi Cachuchi,

I've had sleep problems for such a long time. Can't get to sleep, wake up when I do fall asleep and take 2 or 3 hours to get back to sleep. I know I am sleep deficient. When I mention it to my doctor he says "do you think you have sleep apnea?" I'm sure I don't have that and if I tried to do a sleep study, I would probably not sleep the whole night so it would be a waste, according to a sleep study technician.

You mentioned having a EEG done. Did a doctor recommend it? This is the first time I've seen another possible test for lack of sleep.

Thanks.

.
I read many years ago that we needed only six and a half hours but as we age we need less. Six is about enough for me and when my eyes open I get up and never lay in bed, if I have a cold or whatever I am up because staying In bed is a breeding ground for more ill health.

And most doctors do not seem to think not sleeping well is a problem. I wonder what a doctor would do if he had to operate and the night before he didn't sleep? dunno

Now that I'm retired, I get about 7 to 8 hours sleep which is a far cry better than the 4 to 5 hours I'd get when I was working. wave

Hi Newinsouth, no, I got my EEG done for other reason. I´ve not read enough to give an oppinion about sleep deprivation but there is something I know and maybe could help: brain biology and electrica is involved in sleeping process, I have a "mental condition" which makes my sleep be the way it is and I also developed a healthy pattern in my early years due to a sensory hyposensitive response to stimulus, I would suggest to check those areas ...maybe you could find a clue in there. Hope so! good luck!!! wave

I know I'm already boring with this suggestion, but have you tried listening to Michael Sealey? You can find many videos on his youtube channel. They helped me a lot in some periods when I had trouble sleeping. They especially work well at night, when the body is already ready for sleep, although I did try some of his meditations during the day and they were nice and relaxing.
