R.U. I was born in Holland but fries and mayo is a Belgium concept.
Never in my life there did I see ketchup it was totally foreign to me.

I remember my mother being a proponent of salad cream with chips (it was the nearest she could get to mayonnaise in England).
It was very foreign back in the 70's, but I reckon her glee must have swept the nation from our house because chips and mayo are quite common now.

Hellmans mayo was everywhere in UK in the 70's but tasted a lot different than French mayo and we used to get day trips to calais and bring jars back
