Do you have pets? I have a black 12-year-old cat.
Do you think that pets can be a great way to meet someone? When both people have pets, they instantly have something in common and a lot of experiences and anecdotes to share. Did you ever meet anyone thanks to your pet?
What would you do if your partner disliked your pet? Or if they were allergic to it?

I have 2 dogs, both rescues. One is old now, and doesn't go walking anymore. But she is still the boss of the household. She reigns over us like a queen.
When she used to go out walking, she used to attract people to her all the time. She is a real people-dog, and expected everybody to drop everything to rub her, and they used to I have had friends who were terrified of dogs from past experience and after her winning them over with her charm, they are now doting dog owners themselves.
My younger dog is more of a challenge. She was very badly treated before I got her, so she was terrified of people,,of life in general. She is slowly improving with lots of love and direction, but she is a work in progress. However, when she does know and trust people, she is such a sweet, loving, dog. She is gorgeous.
As for a prospective partner. The dogs are part of my life, so the new person would either have to fit in, or else he would never become more than prospective. I would need an animal lover who appreciates the love a dog can give, and what they contribute to a home.

I'm a huge animal lover having worked with Australia's largest private land owner and wildlife conservancy organization in the remote outback. I can't ride an elephant and have been removed from an Indonesian village for releasing captive monkeys.
So, I'm in conflict about keeping pets. On one hand it's a positive thing to do if the animal is at risk, injured or in danger. But, the animal lover purist in me believes all animals should be left alone to roam. I do understand that this is often impractical and unrealistic, however.
I won't keep a pet simply for my pleasure.
If it was difficult for my partner to be around my pet there would have to be every attempt at compromise on all of our accounts. But in the end if the situation became untenable, my partner would take priority.

I don't keep pets.
I actually really agree with what u say Toyko...i do like animals to be free...but only in a collective and safe place. Not just anywhere.
I have one dog..who is recovering from surgery. Always loved dogs...they are my favourite along with horses.
And love to hear how people rescue animals also. There was a lady bringing her husky dog in to be neutured...beautiful dog. She was a lovely lady and was worried abt him and i was just reassuring her that my fella had been through it and all wud be fine..she asked me abt my dog Toby...and i told her...she knelt down and placed her hands on him.for ages...was a bit weirded out but since she wasnt hurting him i let her be...she told me she was a reiki healer and was helping him to calm.and relax before surgery.
I dont even know what reiki is but she left and asked his name.as she said she can do healing on a dpg when he isnt even there and wud do it for me.....im not a believer of stuff like that as ive never done it before but thought it nice of her to care abt my own dog when she was worried abt her own.

Coincidentally, my friend and landlord who lives upstairs has just completed an Emmett (similar pseudoscience-type thing) course run over three days which applies to animals. I don't buy into any of it myself but she says it works. As these new age treatments apply to people I think it's simply the placebo effect that offers any relief. How they apply to animals.....

Just because something cannot currently be explained in a scientific way doesn't mean it does not work.
Especially with animals, as there is no placebo-effect. I have seen things work on them that scientists would scoff at, yet couldn't explain.

Sorry Maya i never answered ur question I never saw Toby as a way of meeting people but he is a lovely dog and any vet ive taken him to has said for a terrier he is very placid and lovely. So unless one of the vets is single then ive no hope lol
