Maya74: I read that cats like to be given a massage and I tried that once, but my cat looked me with dissatisfaction in her eyes, as if she wanted to say: 'What are you doing?!', so I gave up.

I think he might have been talking about the non-4 legged type grin

daniela777: I happen to be a Reiki healer and I've seen a lot of positive results...even with people who don't believe in it!

Like you...I don't like seeing exotic pets held in captivity. They should be where they belong ...free...in the wilderness.

I do volunteer work in a horse rescue centre where they are all free roaming and are being rehabilitated.
I also do Reiki on them and they love it!
It also helps them to relax before any vet intervention.
Animals are very receptive to Reiki.

I've had dogs all my life and I do it on them too if they have any pain.

i have a cat. A couple years ago, after a week's stay at the vet's, and follow-up of heavy meds which left her with no quality of life, and daily visits back to the animal hospital for injections of water for a couple weeks, $3,000.00..... the news was not good.

This kitty was only a couple years old and the vet gave her 3-4 months tops, and in awful shape. Her kidneys were mis-shapen, covered in bumps, and the lining between was fragile and transparent. They suspected she was born that way, or she may have gotten into some poison...dunno...

It was agonizing trying to decide whether to end her wee life so she wasn't in pain. My partner said, stop all the meds and just let it be. She will either survive and return to health, or she will die at home. I'm crying as i write this, just remembering it all.

Well... here we are today. And she's pretty healthy...(2 years later). She gained back all her weight, and some extra..lol. Shes lively and happy. What i don't talk about much, is that i began doing reiki on her back then, and have regularly since that time. i also meditate and send her sparkles...lol.

Maya74: I noticed that similar topics are closed or very old, so I decided to start another one.

Do you have pets? I have a black 12-year-old cat.

Do you think that pets can be a great way to meet someone? When both people have pets, they instantly have something in common and a lot of experiences and anecdotes to share. Did you ever meet anyone thanks to your pet?

What would you do if your partner disliked your pet? Or if they were allergic to it?

I have a dog who's weird, and a bird. They get on quite well! I work on a farm that's open to the public so I'm surrounded by animals, reptiles, spiders and snakes on a normal work day. I'm sure I wouldn't date anyone who had no interest!

Yes, I have met a lot of people walking my dogs over the years. I did not meet a female for a LTR but just met people to talk with briefly in the park. Sometimes I think that some females are very satisfied in most all ways just by having a loving dog or dogs to love them back. I would not like it if my partner disliked my dog and might be intrigued if they had a big dog they let sleep with them. Not sure where I would sleep...LOL
