I´ll send mine. Count on that. It "probably" doesn't mean anything but my grandma broke her hip at 85 and she made it, she was a fighter too...

I believe in positive vibes!!!! Let´s do it!!!!!

IncubusBaig: Sounds like he's a fighter.. positive vibes for him!

Yes you are right, but this Christmas was hard for him, he really missed his wife, married for almost 75 years. So my worry is he will give up so he can be with her, I guess I am selfish. Hard not to be I thinkdunno
But thank you for your vibes

Kind words and I truly appreciate them, I was somewhat unprepared for the return so soon, had to move my flights and getting one was not easy. Emirates have worked wonders for me, so winging my way very soon.
He did seem to be recovering well, so I was relaxed, decided to complete my exams and then fly back, been calling the hospital every night, and all was good until today. My term doesn't end until end Jan so had a bitof a panic, thankfully the senior staff at my Uni are good people and fully understand my position, immediately gave me permission to leave and found someone to finish my work.
Thank you again.

I agree it does get that way when they've been together for so long. Its the same with my mom since my father passed away 4 years ago. I wouldn't call it you being selfish.. I would say its a great opportunity for you to try and payback your dad a small fraction of what he did for you as a parent. I consider taking care of one's parent(s) as one of the highest honors one can have. I'm sure you'll do well too.. wine

rizlared: Some of you may remember that my Dad celebrated his 100th birthday in June last year, but seems he may not make 101. He fell a few days ago and broke his hip, had an operation which seemed to go well and it looked like he would make a good recovery, but just spoke to his doctor who told me he know has a bad chest infection, and antibiotics are not working, I am flying back to the UK this weekend to see if I can cheer him up.

Not looking for prayers etc, just some positive feedback and thoughts, I am a great believer that positive energy can cure anything.

Sending my thanks in advance
Riz

I am sorry to hear that!
Hope he will recover,though!handshake

rizlared: Thanks, My dad would have got on with you so well, he worked on the Supermarine Firefly, as well as the Hurricane, and both the Horsa and hamilton Hamilcar gliders.
Riz

Hi Riz
I never worked on a Firefly or the Hurricane but have had quite a bit to do with restoring Spitfires, 2 DH Dragon Rapides 4 Tiger Moths a Hunter T 7 a Vampire T11 a Meteor T7 apart from working on the Lighning Mk1 Hunter 6 and Javelins - all marks 1 to 7 when I was in the service. - My Maternal grand father though, was an RAF W.O instructor supervising training for making the Horsa and other tow ropes for the Arnhem drop.
He taught me about theory of flight aged 9 in 1946 when we can back to Thanet and it got me hooked - I am 80 now and have taught youngsters similar to what he taught me as the basic skills never change and I moved on to a higher level because of how he taught me.

I hope the old boy comes through and goes more years yet

rizlared: It was a risk he wanted to take, he was really quite fit for his age, but his knee was giving him a problem. Other than that he was doing really well, getting dressed in the mornings and able to look after himself in many ways, his main carers were always astounded at how much he would do for himself.
Thank you for your comments

Riz

Best wishes for your dad. Sending only positive thoughts and energy. handshake

When something like such an operation went so well and when you will come and be with him, he will be so strong ... the infection will go away then.
I wish you and your dad all the best good luck

Thank you darling DD
I think you could be nterested in actually planes & flying especially, if I still had my Sedburgh.
I was fully qualified to fly and teach in Gliders when I bought mine & rebuilt it. Unless rules have changed since 2011 there's no upper age limit to fly one if one passes the medical. wink lips lips
