If you built a 500 mile wall off Labrador's eastern most point, you could divert the Labrador current, flood Newfoundland with the gulf stream and turn the weather tropical year round.

I canoed a lot...

It looks like if the Gulf Stream crossed the Labrador current, you'd get whirlpools the would make navigation difficult.

Not a bad idea laugh

Although, wouldn't it be cheaper to move the people to a tropical land?

The more I look at that map....

The more I'd like to see a computer simulation of what would happen if those two currents crossed?

Those are both strong currents... I'll bet the whirlpools would start washing Newfoundland into the ocean right away.

Mankind's biggest problem is we just can't leave things alone. What happens to sea life that needs that current today? How much will something like that speed the progress of the climate change we already have? These are just 2 questions I thought of right away. I'm sure there are hundreds more to consider before even doing a readability study, let alone actually building your wall.

Technically, you'd have to completely change the Earth's orbit to make Canada tropical. I'm pretty sure the North pole is in Canada these days... The tropics are located between the tropic of Capricorn in the South, and tropic of Capricorn in the North.
I reckon a wall around it would just make the place a very cold prison.

Cheaper to move the Newfies to a tropical island?

Ya see, that's austerity and you don't get economic growth by penny pinching.

Unless you bill the Mexicans for the wall. grin

You've gone from an exclamation point to a question mark...

As a student of graphology, I find that very interesting...
